First of all, the food at this restaurant was very good and a good price. If it weren't for the service, I'd rate this a 5, but the service was extremely slow as they had one server and a bartender who was helping him out for the whole restaurant and the kitchen was very slow. We were essentially ignored and... More

We tried Wiener on the suggestion of our hotel (Hotel Altstadt) for dinner our first night in Vienna. We were very happy with our meal. We started with the spinach strudel which had me wanting to lick the plate. Entrees were the beef filet with bread dumplings and the sea bass with vegetables, and for dessert we had the strawberry... We (2 couples) went to this restaurant using trip advisor. Exceeded our high expectations, potato cakes and spinach strudel starters were very good. The Wiener Schnitzel was superb. Atmosphere and friendly service completed the evening. Extremely good value.

Had dinner here on our last night in Vienna. It was close to where were were staying in Mariahhilfestrasse. The decor was cosy and the waiter attentive. The food was fantastic. Spinach strudel with herby, melted sheep's cheese sauce and a pasta and ham bake that was melt in the mouth good. But best of all were the deserts. Nougat... More

Tucked away in Neubau, 200 meters from Zeiglergasse station, Weiner is a special neighbourhood find. An elegant entrance gives way to a combination of modern and classic Viennese decor. Our waiter was friendly, fluent in English, and his service was attentive. The pumpkin soup was autumn sweet, garnished with a salty, procciuto wrapped breadstick, perfect for dipping. The beef tartar... More

We were there for dinner and after getting used to the dark, but cosy, atmosphere were served excellent meals. And barely had room for the dessert (plum dumplings, they were just like mum made them). The Steinpilze (it was mushroom season) were superb. And the service too was great.

Excellent food, Austrian specialties, great wine, fab prices and an even better service. Hannes is the best host in town and he truely knows how to make you come back. When I'm in Vienna and I take business people out for dinner I always go here and sometimes it happens that people from Vienna don't know this place but once... More

Staying in Neubau

Neighborhood Profile
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
