I am so disappointed that "Zu den Zwei" Restaurant has closed down. I was surprised also to read some of the negative reviews. My partner and I have eaten there on two previous visits to Vienna and were very much looking forward to going back again next month when we'll be in the city for three nights. The place was... More

When we wanted to enjoy the famous Schnitzel there, we learned from a small note in the window that the owners had to close the place down a few months ago. So don't waste your time to go there.

The best stuffed schnitzel you will ever eat. I don't usually spout superlatives, but this is well deserved. ZD2L is a traditional Viennese beisl, all rustic wood pannelling and monster beer steins. The menu is uncomplicated, the food hearty, generously portioned and cheap. I had a stuffed schnitzel, a freshly cooked, monstrous, tasty thing oozing cheese and ham. When you've... More

It is a very good restaurant with big Schnitzels (in 1 porcion are 3 pieces), an excellent taste, a large selection of Schnitzels, delicious potato salad, friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere, near the city of Vienna. Nothing is problem. Children are welcome (they also have a children high chair). Tradicional Viennese food and drinks (my grandmother was born and she lieved... More

Just in case you're labouring under a misapprehension, a 'beisl' is best described as a rustic inn. Expect no silver service here - the owner is gruff and the decor is, well, rustic. But that is exactly the charm of the place. It is not pretending to be something it is not. It serves beer and country cooking and that's... More

Went here on advice of Lonely Planet. Obscenely oversized deep fried schnitzels overflowing the plate. Super grumpy scary owner. Smoke filled room didn't help the atmosphere. We wouldn't recommend this place or go back ourselves.

Went here based on lonely planet recommendation. Absolutely rubbish. They have many type of schnitzel types, Viennese, Paris, cordon bleu etc... Was told by the extremely gruff man (who I think may have been drunk too) that they have no pork.. Only turkey. No prob, I just got the turkey. What I ended up with was a sodden, oil drenched... the biggest Wiener Schnitzel I have ever seen, for a nice price, about 10€! A potato salad on the side superb. Superb choice to go there.

If you are tired of nice coffee houses, expensive restaurants and look for something less touristic, maybe this "beisl" is a good option. Take a soup in the cold Austrian winter, and then a nice Schnitzel with Austrian white wine. Not a luxury place, but with good results if your expectations accept a genuine experience. We will return for sure.
