Disappointing, but had a couple redeeming qualities

The Palmenhaus unfortunately did not meet our expectations. The restaurant does not compare to the beautiful pictures offered online. Instead, it felt like we walked into an old, dilapidated scene with the good times already behind by years. The building has beautiful bones and structure that is... read more

The Palmenhaus unfortunately did not meet our expectations. The restaurant does not compare to the beautiful pictures offered online. Instead, it felt like we walked into an old, dilapidated scene with the good times already behind by years. The building has beautiful bones and structure that is not matched with its furnishings and ambience. The décor is very old, in... More

My husband and I had lunch here. The lunch selection is very limited - 2 mains that I think remain unchanged for a while - pasta dish and veal saussage with grilled vegetables. For 14 Eur you can have the main with a soup or dessert. Bit up there. We opted for the saussage. The portion wasn't big but it... More

The restaurant is in a greenhouse that's part of the Hofburg Palace compound. So be prepared for large tropical plants looming over the table as part of the atmosphere. Awesome food, great service, good wine and very local--we had a late, many course lunch on New Years Eve and seemed to be the only folks speaking English. my husband and... More

Had a really nice meal - very solid traditional Viennese cuisine. I had the roast stag saddle with nut crust (more like a nut stuffing on top but still tasty) and chestnut-curd dumplings (which really were the stand out of the meal). The gingerbread 'soufflé' filled with chocolate and spekulous ice cream is to die for. We had made a... More

There are cheaper places to eat but the prices are not too steep. About 24 Euro's for two, first week in Jan for brunch; not very busy. The operation is slick, staff charming, and the food well presented. Fab building. Would have stayed all day with a good book.

Food is not amazing, but that is not the reason for going there anyway. The great wine list and the setting is what make you pay some extra bucks to stay there! Do not go for the pies, they are not good enough.

Our first approach was not so good. We Went late to have dinner and was no one to welcome us. One waitress saw but went to talk on the phone. After little bit time waiting another waitress comes and told us that kitchen is closed. We decided to go again the next lunch and we where not disappointed. We didn't... More

My wife and I were wondering around Burggarten and were looking for a place to enjoy a drink before dinner on our last night in Vienna. Palmenhaus caught our eyes immediately but we did not think we could afford a drink in there as it looked really fancy. We approached the door and the menu was right there and everything... More

If you want to have dinner in (what was told) one of the most popular restaurants in Vienna: forget it without making a reservation. All right, ....you can make reservations for two days later. Two days later your table is not free at 7:00 PM. You may wait until 7:40 PM and after repeating requests you may be sent to... More

Really great location and very tasty (if slightly overpriced) brunch. Splendid cakes. Great location for a cheeky bite or coffee after having walked around the Museum Quarter.
