A one time favorite breakfast spot, both standard coffee sizes and the size of their signature breakfast have taken a hit, making the fantastic atmosphere of the location nothing more than an overpriced tourist trap with a really mediocre breakfast. Their "Palmenhaus" breakfast offering, came with an ice-cold lump of goat's cheese under scrambled eggs, making the eggs cold. And... More

We seeked refuge here one Sunday lunchtime in December and decided to have some lunch. We ordered soup and salads and, while their were OK in quality, the portions were too small. Prices are very high for this restaurant, especially at lunch.

We witnessed the folks working here dealing with a lot of tourists, who speak a lot of different languages and making a lot of demands. They managed to do a fine job with that. They were pleasant and the food was good. We tried salad, pasta and Wienerschnitzel. The service was a little slow at times, but I really don't... More

An interesting setting in a kind of botanical gardenhouse. Food is OK, but nothing special. Prices at the high side. Service is OK.

Lovely return in this restaurant! We stayed with a couple of friends, they remained astonished about the beautiful place, an old greenhouse with a lot of trees and plants! We visited the Palmenhaus in January 2016 for coffees and light lunch. We decided on apple strudle, marzipan cake and a selection of cheeses. Everything was absolutely fabulous and the portion sizes were good. However, it was a little pricy but you are paying for the ambiance as well as the quality of food. Being in the Palmenhaus really makes... More

A very nice restaurant inside an old greenhouse next to Hofburg. The food is good (nothing exceptional, but it is good, and the price is comparatively low given the location), atmosphere is relax with a mix of tourists and local people.

Wonderful location in a real greenhouse full of plants. The place was packed with patrons, but we were invited to wait at the bar and we were served a very sour and refreshing fresh lime juice. The menu has a selection of typical Austrian dishes. We chose spinach and feta strudel, which was delicious, and schnitzel, nicely cooked and crunchy.

Very nice salad with duck confit. High tables give a nice view. Good resting spot from Hofburg experiences. Decent toilets

Yes, you have one of these days that you think, well lets gonna visit Palmhaus for a coffee and cake. A bit disappointed we were. It is old glory. But you can have a look. We had 2 cola lights (2 x € 3,50) and celery soup (2 x € 5,40). I've seen what I wanted and that's enough to... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
