I am Austrian myself and I strongly recommend to NOT visit this arrogant place, but instead visit one of the plenty beautiful restaurants with great service (e.g. Plachutta for Tafelspitz, Figlmüller for Schnitzel and also Griechenbeisl)! The food here is ok, but the staff is EXTREMELY arrogant and rude! If you want to make sure you have a nice experience,... More

If you are looking for an authentic Austrian restaurant where locals go to enjoy local specialties, purstner is the perfect place. We had delicious Wiener schnitzels in a nice and warm atmosphere. Also recommend the appetizer snails Prices are reasonable and service excellent.

served by men in leiderhosen…..a very long menu with many choices, mostly meat, little in the way of fish or vegetarian. English language menu available. A popular place, with traditional decor.

Wonderful atmosphere, friendly, welcoming restaurant and very tasty Vienna Schnitzel! Purstners have been around a long time and know the secret to good service and warm atmosphere without being over the top! I sat near the door and every minute people were being turned away. This was a Tuesday at the beginning of December (not peak tourist season at all).... More

We stumbled on the Purstner whilst looking for another place. Its a comfortable, non fussy ''pub'' like restuarant. The service is friendly and quick, but it does get really busy and the 2 nights we went people were constantly being turned away, so book ahead. The food is simple and tasty. The Goulash and Wiener Schnitzel were very good, fresh... More

We had booked online for 8.30 last Thursday and were very glad we had, as there were about ten people waiting for tables who had not booked, when we arrived. I would echo the points made by other posters about friendly, fast service, huge portions of typical Austrian food, this is not fine dining but none the worse for that.... More

Our very first meal in Vienna was here, recommended by our hotel, it screamed of good and authentic austrian cuisine and hospitality. From the outside there was nothing special about it but was blown away by the quality of food and service. Huge portions, charming austrian decor, warm and friendly service. Def a Great value for your money! Within Walking... More

Purstner lives up to the reviews! It feels like an authentic Austrian pub, with the decor (including taxidermy), waiters in lederhosen & a traditional menu (there is an English menu & Italian.. there may be more) making it feel very authentic. Lots of the review here note that it seems very touristy - at 8.30pm on a Thursday night, 3/4... More
