Great restaurant and wonderful staff

The Purstner is located on one of the quiet streets of Vienna, namely Riemergasse - one has to know about it or it has to be recommended by a Hotel Concierge. Quite surprising to find an "Alpine Looking Chalet" with waiters in Lederhosen, the decor is very rural, but the menu very Viennese - they had an Asparagus Promotion -... More

Purstner is certainly a restaurant one should not miss for a dinner in Vienna. All people in our party were very happy with their food (Wiener schnitzel, fuhrwerkerpfanne, ratsherrnpfanne, garlic soup) with their drinks as well as with the very friendly and helpful service. Servers were very nice and speaking very well English. The restaurant decor stands out and was... More

Decor was like something out of the Black Forest, with wait staff in traditional dress. Hotel did a reservation for us and we might not have gotten in otherwise. Very traditional Austrian menu done very well. Generous portions of food. Waiter was very friendly, knowledgeable and spoke good English.

Everything we ordered, from the soup to the pork filet, and from the salads to the dessert was excellent. The atmosphere in the restaurant is unique

The decor and atmosphere was very traditional. They servers were friendly and helpful. If you are a normal person, then I would suggest 1 started and 1 main for 2 people. The weiner schnitzel was perfect but the portion could feed a family of four!! Prices are of good value

This place was recommended by the reception at out hotel near St Stephen's Cathedral. It is deceptively big with lots of nooks and crannies so that it appears more intimate. The menu offers several typical Austrian dishes which are ample and wholesome. The beer is also good.

The decoration is really nice. Staff is attentive. I had a traditional soup and tafelspitz. Presentation was good, tafelspitz arrived with some sauces. Taste was very good, and the price was reasonable. Portions are really big, therefore don't order more than one main dish before seeing what will arrive.

We had the ribs here twice during our stay. For $17 you get 2 slabs of baby back ribs with roasted potatoes and various sauces. Meat was fresh, crispy on the outside and cooked just right. Portions are generous and service was excellent. We had a salad and soup to go with it. In the market, they were selling uncooked... More

Enjoyed our meal at Purstner. Traditional setting with staff in Austrian attire and classic ambiance / decor. The meat is the star here. Both my pork (with a tasty cheese sauce) and my wife's steak were clearly good quality and well cooked. Starters of snails and beef broth were also tasty. Mains are large so no room for dessert. Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
