typical Italian pizzeria with superb terrace during summer

here you get one of the best Pizzas in town. The restaurant offers good value and is situated at a beautiful spot in the 8th district. In summer the terrace is lovely. The personnel though could be friendlier.

Really great pizza for a acceptable price. In my opinion and also the opinion of some of my Italian friends in Vienna, its the best available pizza in town from the traditional Napolitan viewpoint of pizza. Location is rustic but not the most comfortable one. Service depends on the time and how crowded the place gets so avoid peak times... More

We went for lunch. The restaurant was rather empty when we arrived around noon, but by the time we were finished at 1, it was packed. It's a short walk from the metro station. We had pizzas with buffalo mozzarella. They are big enough for 2 people to share. The ingredients were all top notch. It was delicious and we... More

Wonderful Italian serving delicious wood fired pizzas and good selection of Italian wines by the glass. Very reasonable prices. Please note cash only, no cards for payment.

I'm sure there are other Italian restaurants in Vienna with fancier or trendier clientele, but Il Sestante was packed with locals eating there with their family and friends tucked away on one of the many little side streets of Vienna. The waitstaff was fantastic. The food was great and the wine selection hit the spot. Be sure to make a... More

We went to Il Sestante for dinner as it was close to where we are staying during a short holiday in Vienna. Didn't have a reservation but were able to get a table even though it was busy. It was hard to chose what to order - both pasta and pizza looked amazing - had pasta and salad and all... More

We dined here on Oct. 12th a party of four people at 6:30 pm. The friendly waiter was funny and made very nice conversations with us. I had the lasagna, another person a vegetarian dish, another spaghetti carbonara, another a small pizza. Each of our meals was delicious! The cozy, warm charm of this place on a cold night was... This restaurant has a lovely outdoor area in the square in front of the Piaristenkirche, and seems to be very popular in the summer weather - we were there in late August and there was a constant queue for outdoor tables. The pizza is excellent, the pasta is very good, prices are very reasonable. Service was not so great, but... More

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theater, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighborhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicenter. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighborhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
