Good Italian food in Vienna

A friend recommended this restaurant for dinner after the Opera and we were not disappointed . The meal was delicious, the service was superb, and the tenor from the opera, Tosca, sat at the table next to us. Lastly, the Tartuffo we had for dessert was fabulous. Then owner is very warm... read more

A great Italian restaurant where you most likely will meet the big opera stars after their performance at the Vienna State Opera! The owner,Aki, is always friendly!!

Excellent food and warm Italian welcome near Opera House. We went after the opera and were given the warmest of welcomes and many helpful recommendations over food. There was plenty of ice for me to add to my drinks, wonderfully garlicky bread, and delicious home-cooked main courses. I had the tortellini, our friend had spaghetti carbonara and my husband enjoyed... More

Choosing a restaurant because you like the menu outside is always taking a chance. But this time it paid off. It was close to our hotel and we had just spent over four hours on a train, and we were starving. The restaurant was sleek and efficient, with gleaming cutlery and crisp tablecloths. Staff were courteous and helpful. The menu... More

We are from New York and Connecticut USA and found the experience as excellent as could be. Giovanni the waiter was a fine Italien gentleman and explained everything. The wine, fish combinations and pasta dishes were wonderful. And the service was prompt with a smile. All four of us give it an excellent 5 stars in all areas. Sitting outdoors... More

The Sole Ristorante was a delightful dining experience. The appetizer, main course and desserts was very delicious and healthy. The service from the waiters was impeccable. The chefs deserve great praise. I had a chance to meet the owner Aki Nuredini, very kind and humble man. I even liked the way he has a book highlighting many famous entertainment stars... More

Passed accidently by after a Night at the opera and were looking for a place that still had an open kitchen at ten thirty at night. The place looked cosy and nice, so we went in and was met in a very friendly way. The staff was both friendly and professional. The menu was tempting and had all the good... More

Whenever I am in Vienna to visit my daughter and son-in-law we eat at Sole. The food is great and the staff wonderfully welcoming. I love returning here.

This restaurant is very conveniently located, near the Opera House. We stumbled upon it when looking for a place to eat and we loved it! It was the best meal of our entire trip. We both demolished our meals and would have loved to dine here again. Beware though, the drinks are pricey! p.s. Their pizza bread is lovely!

This Italian restaurant is situated in the centre of Vienna, so very convenient . However, the food was just mediocre. I have been in a lot better. Decor was ok, food was average. My husband started with minestrone soup which was very disappointing apparently, it was tasteless, thin, and looked like dishwater. The pizza was good, I had pasta with salmon,... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
