Great atmosphere, superfunny waiters, good music in the speakers and the tournedau with chili-chocolate sauce was to die for!! And smoke free!! All you need in a restaurant. Medium prices, well worth it.

Very good food, cool atmosphere, excellent service, very good wine choices. Motto (as opposed to Motto am Fluss- which is not nearly as good) has it all.

This review is about the original Motto (5th district) . Being from Austria I used to go there something like 17years ago. I went back on the 3rd of January 2015 after 17years and the food is just as beautiful as it was. Atmosphere is nice and cosy and great for a gathering with friends -not too casual -. Try... More

Not forgetting the varied, well presented and tasty meals. This place has superb stylish decor and a great bar/ restaurant vibe. Quite hard to spot as the signage is quite hidden. Food is very varied and some of the cocktails novel, but really tasty. Gin and Basil smash to be recommended, as is the Christmas special with pomegranate, prosecco and... More

The Motto is a must in Vienna since many years. After having not visited the restaurant for a few years I was positively surprised that the staff was friendly as it has been before, the food even better. Rare, that a place can keep up in qualtity over such a long period. The design is quite special and reminds me... More

Quite a "hip and trendy" place for people approaching middle age, sorry but not really a cool place for younger people in my opinion. The food and cocktails are expensive and not outstanding in any way the interior does look interesting but I always feel it's very cramped the handful of times I have been there. The service is always... More

So first off, you won't find many tourists here. Even our waiter noted that they don't see many Americans, unless they are visiting friends who live in Vienna, because it is a little hard to locate. It's almost completely hidden behind a big steel door, but once you find it and step inside, you will find an extraordinarily hip restaurant... More

The concierge at our hotel recommended this restaurant as a young and trendy place with an innovative chef. He was spot on! The only caveat is that the address is not exactly correct, since the front door is really around the corner from the given street number, which is the site of the catering operation. We enjoyed the food, the... More

Staying in Margareten

Neighborhood Profile
Margareten
This former working class district blends hip eateries and avant-garde cinema with a time travel into 1950s Vienna. Feel the district’s pulse at Margaretenhof and Schlossquadrat. 19th-century Margaretenhof is a local icon, yet has very non-Viennese architecture with its brick structure and cast-iron verandas. The nearby urban Renaissance castle of Schlossquadrat houses several restaurants. In the summer you can sit in its romantic shady courtyard over Schnitzel and Kracherl (traditional fizzy syrup). Siebenbrunnenplatz and its surrounding shops and grocery stores have remained virtually unchanged in the past 60 years: taking a walk there is like stepping into a 1950s film set. Speaking of movies, head to avant-garde cinema Filmcasino in the evening. It often stages foreign language cult films.
