good food

Had spicy duck and ginger prawns with steamed rice for lunch. Very tasty, good portions ànd service. Nice comfortable restaurant just far enough off the tourist hotspots to be good value also.

OK Vietnamese food (although I have high expectations coming from NY and Philly which has excellent options) with excellent service.

The foods here are all so awesome. I love the Crypsy Duck most, with stir-fried Rice with Egg... So good. And a small point of this restaurant is the small waitress girl with short hair and so cute smile, of course she is really kind and look so humorous... I would come back to this restaurant, when I am back... More

After a day in the Kunsthistoriches Museum which is amazing...we needed a fix of Oriental food on our way back to our hotel. We spotted the Saigon which looked good and the menu choice fantastic. We were seated in the quiet area and I know it's terrible but they spoke prefect English,we perused the extensive menu, enjoying a pre-dinner drink. We selected... More

Saigon as most of the Asian restaurants features a huge menu with a number of dishes close to a hundred - almost impossible to choose from! We selected some spring rolls which were the biggest ones we have ever seen (quite good as well) and duck soup & chicken curry for mains. Both were decent in taste, while the size... More

Our visit at Saigon was great! We were seated in the room on the right with only 1 other party, so it was nice and quiet. We had the chicken spring rolls and wontons as starters and they were very good. We just wanted our entrees next! We ordered the Garlic chicken with veggies (#122 on menu) and the noodles... More

So you might ask why anyone would want to eat Vietnamese cuisine while in Vienna? - simple. The Saigon Restaurant is right next to the Hotel Mercure Secession which, in Winter, is the best answer for great tasting food, in a warm setting that is conveniently located. During a 7-day stay, late in November, with an average temperature of 1-2... More

I have been coming to Saigon for almost a decade. I've lived in Austria twice for short periods of time and have travelled here several times beyond that. Every time I'm in Vienna I come to Saigon. I have never been disappointed. Tonight was no different. Excellent Vietnamese spring rolls with great condiments. A wonderfully flavorful Thai duck with basic.... More

My parents were born in Vietnam so I've had a lot of Vietnamese food. Have visited Vietnam before too so I know what Vietnamese food should taste like. Saigon makes delicious fresh authentic Vietnamese food in generous portions. Staff are multilingual - I heard them speak English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese and German! Menu is in English and German. Staff were... More

Staying in Mariahilf

Neighborhood Profile
Mariahilf
Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna and the center. One of the most historic sites in the area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with its small shops and cafés. It leads from Mariahilfer Strasse to Windmühlgasse. For a glimpse into the world of early 19th century theater, visit Semperdepot, the former depository for theater decoration, which now hosts art exhibitions and fairs.
