I have visited Walter Bauer a couple of months ago for a business dinner and overall had a great meal. Stuffed squid was superb having a lovely texture and incredible taste. The subsequent turbot, while an apparently simple dish, was cooked perfectly, full of flavour, and wonderfully presented, with the accompanying vegetables excellently prepared as well. Service was very good... More

a one michelin star restaurant downtown vienna - nice lighting and attentive staff - a bit dusty and boring interieur - really classic austrian fine dining menu -- overall really nice, maybe it was my mood, i found this a bit boring, although generally The Vienna gastro scene is high standard and safe, but lacks the edge and modjo. Budapest... More

It was our first dinner in Vienna. Small menu. The service is slow and staff are not really accommodating. Atmosphere was not comfortable. The food was good and presented nicely. Would not go back.

Simply superb! That's all you need to know. From the beef carpaccio to the nettle soup, the stuffed squash blossom to the goose liver pate, the venison or char to the ox cheeks, this place delivers superb food. It's a beautiful, romantic restaurant with perfect service at a perfect pace, a great wine list... We loved everything about Walter Bauer.... More

Floating up the Danube on a long boat we had a day in Vienna. We decided to have dinner off the ship. Great decision! Restaurant Bauer was worth every penny! We started with a glass of Austrian sparkling wine which was great. The waitress brought out a sausage with an onion and pickle mixed mustard, again yum! I had the... More

Booked well in advance. Little difficult to find especially if you come off the trams. But once you are there the staff help you relax. A smaller venue but warm and cosy without the fuss. Everyone would feel comfortable here. Excellent menu (we chose a la carte) and wine list. Good sommelier/waiter who recommended a great wine given the food... More

This restaurant has a Michelin star and they clearly deserve it. The quality of the food was excellent, as is the service. I chose deer as the main course which was delicious. High quality cooking! What was peculiar was the speed with which the dishes arrived. We were done within an hour, that was quite unexpected. I can recommend this... More

Found the place in the Michelin book, and expected a bit more. Consistent quality with the dishes but the "wow"-effect was missing. Starter with Leberkäse was a bit different but would have needed slightly more innovation.

A tiny hidden gem of a restaurant thoroughly deserving it's Michelin Star. I had the Bouillon with bone marrow dumplings followed by excellent fish. The food is really upmarket Austrian putting a twist on the classics without being way-out or too experimental.
