I came here for a romantic dinner, which is what I think this place was really created for. The food was tasty, but not memorable. A lot of effort had gone into presentation and one of the dishes was simply over tinkered with; style over substance. However, unlike some other reviewers here, we loved the setting and even the fact... More

One of a few Michelin star restaurants in Wien. Only Walter Bauer and Silvio Nickol from Michelin list were working on Saturday so we went there for dinner last week as we managed to get a table half an hour before dinner time. We went for the 5 courses tasting menu combined with wine pairing. The courses were excellent, except... More

We went to this restaurant in Vienna on Sept 23rd because it looked interesting and had a Michelin star. So much for a Michelin star being up to date. We sat down in what was a comfortable and pleasing room for what we thought would be a nice dinner considering the prices on the menu. We ordered wine and the... More

This is a very good restaurant! The service may be slow but not too slow to enjoy a well-prepared meal that was fantastic. We thought the staff was very good--we were not offered a soufflé as in some of the other reviews! They helped us choose a very enjoyable local wine. The truffle laced pasta was superb and the veal... More

Food and service both very good indeed..........but on a Thursday night for dinner it was absolutely dead with no atmosphere (only 1 other table at any time). It is not a particularly good looking place and very expensive so despite the quality of food and service not a memorable experience.

We arrived at this highly rated restaurant anticipating a memorable dining experience on our last night in Vienna. It was memorable, but for the wrong reason. This was the first restaurant in Vienna to receive a Michelin star, and it is a lovely room in a charming old house. We were seated immediately, and that's when the problems started. The... More

This was our second visit to this small fine dining establishment over a span of a few years. The food is just terrific and the service is outstanding. The menu in a sense is traditional, but updated. The wine offerings include many reasonably priced good local wines. My desert, for instance, turned a simple local favorite, mohnseed roll, into a... We told the concierge we wanted a Michelin Star restaurant, there are not that many in Vienna. Walter Bauer was the place to go. It might be we had high expections, or set them too high, but it was a let down. It is great food, don't get me wrong, but the other things that are part of the fine... More

Have dined here a few times over recent years. It is always a great treat. Situated in the heart of the old city; it can be a little difficult to locate. The food and wines are always superb. The tasting menu is recommended if it's your first visit. Can be a little heavy with local cuisine especially in Winter. Staff are... More
