Yummy pork ribs

I was visiting Vienna and my girlfriend brought me to the Prater and we dined here. Lovely ambience. Nice summer weather to dine outdoor. The pork ribs was so yummy. The portion is very big and we shared the food.

Lets start by saying that this place is always rammed, so if you go in and see some seats then grab them because you wont get another chance. You can't book in advance from what i am aware, we were on a business trip and the company tried to book but were told that they didn't take bookings. Luckily we... More

Visited with my colleagues. I had the pork knuckle, shared with a friend. That was a good one, one of the best I've had. Beer was cold and killed my thirst efficiently. The place was quite crowded which meant that service was little slow. There a just too many tables there, sot there is too little room for everyone. But... More

Apparently this restaurant is famous for family occassions. Good thing I've visited this place on a weekday. You should order the stelze (pork knuckle), which is ridiculously delicious and tasty! Gulp it down with cold beer! Definitely recommend this place.

I have been several times there, and I had always their speciality, the Schweinsstelze, We were 4 adults and 1 child last time, on a Saturday evening. The atmosphere is great, it was full of people, Although the place was full, we got our order within some minutes; I was really but positively surprised, that they served so fast our... More

Enjoyed a mighty pork knuckle, along with potato salad. my husband and I shared both items and were still not hungry by dinner time! We had great service; no one was rude or ignored us. I'm sure it helped that we visited on a weekday during the off-season. This would be a great place with a big group.

Rude waiters and everyone seems to ignore you. Ordered1 pork knuckle but shortly the waiter came with 2! I told him we only ordered 1 and to my surprised he raised his voice and angrily said NO you ordered 2. I was pissed and told him off. I insisted that he take away the other 1 which he did so... We had a very nice evening at this beer garden located in the Prater park. The food and beer are good but come equipped to translate the German only menu. A lot of the Viennese were wearing their dirdls and lederhosen and having a great time. We felt comfortable and enjoyed the fun. Come early, bring some cash and join... More

I wish there were a rating between "average" and "very good" ("good" maybe?). This place is certainly worth checking out but I'm reluctant to give it the same "very good" rating that I've given to places I liked much better. The food was indeed tasty, as was the beer, and the mood was nothing short of ecstatic. People were cheering,... More

Just the place to exchange money for large hunks of roast pork, tasty chicken and chips...oh, and BEER (in many varieties). Sophisticated it aint, but it is VERY good at what it does best. The circulating Ladies selling trays of pretzels and shots also add a certain something. To be experienced on either ones first or last night in town... More

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city center and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theaters, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
