Big helpings

Make sure somebody helps you finish the pork knuckle!! Very moist and crunchy on the outside but an enormous helping. Wonderful atmosphere, inside the amusement park. May be hard to locate but be patient and you'll be rewarded

Apparently, this is for tourists and Viennese alike! Although it was Tuesday, and our host told us that it wasn't that full, from the crowd, well, I'd hate to see what full really means. And the beer...and the food (and you will see your Cardiologist after having the pork knuckle, and don't try anything else)! Just be forewarned, they are... More

Real Budweiser, fantastic food. If you want to enjoy a typical austrian food, that's the place. You can spend here hours. It's not suitable for social network tourists.

As students coming for a school-purpose we made quite a long way to find the rstaurats. When we arrived the service was terrible, the waiter, who apparently spoke English did not really want to explain us what we could eat. The service was terrible, we finally took a huge piece of meat we shared and the potatoe salad the waiter... More

We enjoyed this restaurant so very much! We found a spot outside and even though it was chilly, the outside heaters helped a lot. The waiter was incredibly friendly and helpful. We sat most of the afternoon enjoying the atmosphere while the kids ran to do the rides at the Prater. We found out we were there at opening day... More

It looks amazing and it is always full of customers. Outside they have heaters so you can stay very late and with no jacket on you. The food is incredible and the beer.....WOW you cannot stop from ordering one more and one more ... Great prices too and excellent service!

I visited the restaurant this week with my boyfriend after reading good reviews. However from the offset as non locals were were given the cold shoulder. Unsure whether to wait for a table or seat ourselves we waited by the door and were ignored by passing waitors. When we asked what we should do we were told very quickly and... More

What do you expect from a beer garden .... Yes, and now top that, as you will get the atmosphere of the Vienna Prater, the best Pork knuckling ever , the crackling is just unbelievable, and the best beer in the world. The original Czech Budweiser. As a Family tradition it is drafted with air... and that makes it even... More

If you are visiting Vienna and haven't been to Schweizerhaus you have missed a big part of Vienna. Could not have had more fun or a more enjoyable meal. Very friendly, very affordable, great service, and lots of fun! Order at least ONE special, more than enough for two to share. Just sit back and enjoy

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city center and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theaters, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
