After you go to the Platter amusement park and ride on the many things they have, it's time to relax and have a beer or have a bite to eat! Highly recommended by the tour guides all over, you gotta try the pork knee. It's their speciality! But if you just want to saciate your thirst, it's also available beer... More

My son saw the pictures of the eisbien and the beer and insisted on visiting the restaurant. After a long day of lots of walking we sat down in the garden and drank great beer and got stuck into the eisbien. We we not disappointed at all. Great atmosphere and fantastic food.

I went there with three friends for dinner. We ordered the typical pork shank (one every two people), french fries and three rounds of beer. First of all they brought a basket with bread, then after three minutes they brought the shank (that means that was not really fresh cooked). The meat was ok (I would say nothing special, but... We've found this place by accident, but there were a lot of people so we decided it's not without purpose. We tried only bear first, and saw that many people were ordering this fantastic Eisbein. Though we were not hungry and had another round on Prater rides. Just after an hour or so we couldn't wait to find this restaurant... More

Schweizerhaus is unique. It has a very extensive garden that can sit hundreds of people as well as a similar number of indoor places. It has a very extensive menu such as the thing they are most famous for "Stelzn" a roated pork knuckle which is served on a board with a carving knife. They have the original Budweiser Beer... More

After a few hours of sightseeing, we took the a ride on the train and got off at the restaurant, their amazing beer and their special food grilled leg of pork is very delicious and although we both were very hungry we could not finish the dish. The price was fair.

This famous restaurant is great fun to experience. The pork knuckle is world famous and well worth a try - but probably only once! The restaurant is huge and on my visit the ground and upper floors were bursting to capacity. The service is a bit slow which is understandable considering the numbers and the prices are reasonable for Europe.... More

Visited this restaurant/ beer garden which is next to the Vienna Prader amusement park. The place is huge seating a large number of people. The atmosphere is lively and busy. The Schweizerhaus speciality is a 1kg joint of pork with the most delicious crackling. We shared two between five of us whilst my partner had a Wiener Schntizel, and with... More

Attentive waiters and cool beer to help wash down the Pork Knuckle that was like a Sunday Roast for a Family of 6! Plenty to share and delicious. Crackling just deleted in your mouth. Sausages and kraut were equally delicious but really didn't need them considering the size of the knuckle. Waiter was happy to supply an international menu for... More

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city center and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theaters, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
