This place is an institution in Wien. It is not fancy by any means, but sitting in authentic beer garden sipping on a stein of Austrian beer whilst chowing down on a huge pork knuckle is a fun experience. Yes it is in a theme park, but so what - live a little and enjoy your visit. I highly recommend... More

I came to this restaurant expecting nice, German cuisine with a Biergarten atmosphere. The location should have been a red flag (in a theme park), but we went there anyway. The food was cheap in price and low in quality, and there were only several different types of beer offered. I wouldn't recommend this for those looking for authentic German/Austrian... More

Went for a walk on Prater but mainly cause I heard for this restaurant and its amazing "stelze", one of local specialties that you have to try. Average portion of this meal is 1kg wich is enough for 2 persons or even 3 persons (2 guys and 1 women). My grade is 3+ (5 beeing the best).

With thoughts of the movie The Third Man and being in the amusement park the has the big steel wheel, we found the Schweizerhaus Restaurant (Swiss House). It is a large open air place where one can eat under a large umbrella or not. We ate there on a Monday and it was quite busy. There are tables that can... More

A tranquil location in the Prater park of Vienna. We were seated in the garden early for lunch on a Thursday with almost no other visitors around us. Within an hour, almost all tables were occupied. A very popular destination! Unfortunately for us, there were smokers at the next table and cigarette smoke for us is very undesirable. We finished... More

We're been to Schweizerhaus many times and take visitors there too. Usually we enjoy our meal and beer and the wait staff are busy and rushed, but friendly and attentive, so no prior complaints. However on our latest visit here, the drinks staff were again very attentive, but our waiter from who we ordered our food was incredibly unaccommodating. First,... More

Beer - no problem, decent, and average price. The pork knuckle though - HUGE. Priced per kilo, and expect to get over a kilo. But the quality wasn't that good. It was OK, but not delicious. I've had much better. And make sure you have change to use their toilet. If you haven't had crispy pork knuckle before, then ok,... More

Definitely the very best place to visit and eat when at the prater. The food is traditional and always excellent. The eisbien is huge, the beer flows regularly, the service is outstanding. We always visit when in Vienna....definitely a must!
