once I had to go there with a friend of mine for lunch and my friend ordered hamburger, which came off with a yeast on the bread. now i don't wanna be all pessimistic about it cause this might happen everywhere, but it kind of killed the appetite for the food. at least the waiter was nice and sent it... K.u.K. Café-Konditorei Kärntner Straße 21-23 1010 Wien Austria Great Austrian food, cakes , with an excellent staff & service. My recommendation is for an apple strudel with hot vanilla sauce. see: http://www.heiner.co.at/ or search at Google+

The 1010 is "our" neighborhood bar/cafe. Its location on the corner of Spiegelgasse and Plankengasse in the heart of the Innere Stadt makes it a prime spot for watching the world go by in the most pleasant of ways: with a well-brewed coffee or a glass of refreshing Austrian wine or beer in hand. The nosh is good too, on... More

After a good dinner in Vienna we decided to have a cocktail. It is a bit challenging to find a place as most everywhere there are restaurants that were expecting you to sit down for food. Searching around we found this place. It is a small bar near one of the main tourist pathways (near Albertina Platz). Maybe no more... More

Bar 1010 is situated on a corner just off one of Austria's largest shopping streets, the Kärntner Straße. No wonder the well-heeled crowd chooses this lovely little bar/café for a pick-me up drink, snack, and sometimes more. Had to ponder the Tripadvisor question "Scenic view?" for some time, then decided no - based on the assumption that most people would... More

Nice little place with local crowd. No thrills a few dishes, a couple of white and red wines and the place is cosy and cool.

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
