Had a wonderful meal of fresh bread, local wine, goulash and beef roulade. Everything was delicious, staff polite and helpful, bustling but not crowded, lovely traditional decor. Really lovely.

OK so this is tourist trail territory but it is always nice to dine where the welcome feels genuine. Reassuring also to find that we were dining in the company of a lot of locals. Our servers were patient and spoke excellent English. We started with the oddly named blutwurst carpaccio, which proved to be thinly sliced black pudding sausage,... More

Friendly staff and very good food along with a number of locally produced wines make this a great stop. Take the subway to Heiglstadt, then the 38a bus to Grinzer and find this place in Grinzer. Listen to the staff on recommendations, they are very good! All around a great experience for us.

Walking around in the cold Grinzing, found this cozy place. The handwritten menu can be challenging! (Austrian dialect) the food was traditional, simple but extraordinary in taste!

We had an excellent meal at this vineyard restaurant in the pretty Vienna suburb of Grinzing. First, some advice if you are planning to go to Grinzing on the 38 tram. It's only a short ride, but it can be made much longer if, like us, you spend some considerable time looking for the tram stop at Shottentor. We had... More

Only locals there the day we stopped in for a snack. It's a little off the regular Grinzing path but an atmospheric place with good beer and a nice platter of bread, meats and cheeses.

Went here for lunch on a Tuesday and found a perfect oasis on a hot day in June. The outside seating is cool under the canopy and a great place to eat or just drink beer. Everyone around me (including a large party of Polish builders, workling locally) seemed to have the ribs, which were very good and served on... More

We went in during a wonder around Grinzing because my fiance fancied the ribs. The place looked fantastic but it was almost empty, I think we were the last customers for the evening. The service was good, the food was good but nothing to rave about. Had many more favourites in the area

Staying in Dobling

Neighborhood Profile
Vienna’s poshest green leafy suburb is also its most romantic hotspot. Walk up Grinzinger Strasse with its many historic wine taverns. The tops of nearby Nussberg and Reisenberg hills make for great strolls through the vineyards, and the occasional discovery of a hidden winery. Popular local weekend hangouts are Neustift am Walde with even more great wine taverns, and café restaurant Cobenzl, up on Cobenzl hill – fantastic for great vistas of Vienna. The woodland around Kahlenberg has a wonderful and not too strenuous hiking path - just don't forget the insect repellent. If you have adventurous children, take them to Waldseilpark Kahlenberg (forest rope park Kahlenberg). A must-do if you want a taste of the Vienna Woods is a stop at Josefinenhütte next door with its great food, cosy interiors and wonderful outdoor space.
