Rude & Arrogant Owner of this Italian Restaurant in Vienna

I went to this restaurant based on recommendation from a local hotel. I've visited over 10 cities on this trip through mainly Eastern Europe in the past 2 months & have to say this is one of worst experiences I've encountered. From the beginning I noticed an attitude on part of the owner who was... read more

We went in at closing time and the owner was kind enough to serve us food that evening. It was also raining and we were lucky to find a place to eat that night after the Opera. The service was good and the waitress was very helpful with finding vegetarian dishes on the menu. Loved the food and kudos to... More

We were going to completely different place. On our way we saw this place. It was so close to the Opera building. I was sure it was going to be fine experience. Well, who knew?! We thought why walk far if there is this nice place so close. And we went there. Very rude waiters. One of them looked like... More

What a nightmare! The service was out of this world and I mean on a planet with one word communication. Racism was quite clear and funny I never experienced such racism in Italy! And the food. Simply horrible. It was just an order of seafood olio!! How could that ever fail in an Italian restaurant? With a fancy price attached... More

We found this place on a side street not far from Wiener Musikverein. We ordered broccoli soup for appetizer, and for main courses, we took owner's suggestions and ordered spaghetti vongole and sole fish dish with white wine sauce. Our meal started out okay with soup and some bread which we never touched but later we found out we were... More

Visited the venue for the first time for a business dinner. We didn't had a reservation. Upon entry we were immediately attended by a gentlemen who turned out to be the owner. We decided to sit in the garden, which had a very nice atmosphere. The owner personally consulted us on the food and wine. We ended up with a... More

It was not my first time at San Carlo. Every time the food was fresh and perfectly cooked. And recently also the service was friendly and quick. Right, each plate was taken away, when one of us had just finished his food, but I think this was an attempt to serve well. At least our group did not feel, this... More

The Restaurant is 1 block from the opera house on a side street. The restaurant looks nice. The Menu is simple & the food is good. The waiter looked bothered that we came. My wife ordered the spaghetti with tomatoes &capers. She was given spaghetti with seafood. I had the pasta carbonara. & it was good. The servers never refilled... More

If you are in for some italian nationalism and like being treated as a dog this is the right place to be. Not ever met such unprofessional and unfriendly waiters. The food was ok, but does in no way compensate for the extremely poor service. This restaurant can only exist because of their location. If they should live from customers returning... More

Only a short review, the food at this restaurant is excellent we ate steak it was superb, but I do object to the very abrupt waiter clearing my plate before my wife had finished. So if you want good food and dont mind the abruptness of the waiters give it a try.

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
