Vegetarians and meat eaters in Vienna!

So finding a place with good schnitzel (excellent by the way) fantastic salads and some choice of mains for vegetarians (3 choices, all ok not great) and cold beer in a casual pub setting in Vienna was a challenge but this place fit the bill

This is a world-class establishment. Everything about this place is perfect - food, service, atmosphere, and value. Great for people of all ages. The front bar area/room was completely full with about 150 people. Patio in the back was more quant, and was nearly half full with about 50 people. There was also a back room behind the patio that... Our last full day in Vienna and it was raining. We hopped from shop to shop to brauhaus and managed to stumble across this gem. We only had a couple of beers but they were fantastic. Great range of beers and the food that was coming out looked very good. There were mainly the "Older Generation" dining, which is always... More

We visited this bar/restaurant on three occasions. Firstly, we just popped in to try some of their beers on a rainy afternoon. The service was very friendly, the food looked amazing. So, we came back the following day for lunch which was €6.50 for a meal (we recommend the goulash). Our final visit was for dinner, had a great dinner... More

Service is very friendly here, truly accommodating & menus are all dual German/English. Very wide range of specialty brews if beer is your thing, as well as a wide range of other alcoholic drinks also. Food is typically Austrian with all standards (schnitzels, fried Emmentaler cheese et al). Tram is literally just outside the front door with the stop 20... More

Classic food but a little boring; Schweinbrasten (9.90€), try the gulash (9.90€). A place more known for its beers than its food.

A little hidden but a gem of a place. great range of beers to try and super cheap. The meals are massive. Super happy with this place and the staff were very accommodating to tourists.

I visited around 1400 hrs and the place was nearly empty. Did that ensure prompt service? Like **** it did! The beer I had was fine, although they did not have the brew I really wanted. My soup was palatable, although they no longer did the garlic soup which I enjoyed on previous visits. The chilli, describec as "scharf" (hot)... More

Staying in Neubau

Neighborhood Profile
Neubau
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
