Great Indoor Space and Coffee

Went there as a "must" see tourist trap on our first day in Vienna. Although our expectations were low, the coffee was extremely good and the cakes were really tasty. The interior of the place is amazing and a reason to eat inside and not in the small area outside of the restaurant.

A good friend who had lived in Vienna told me I could not miss the Imperial torte at the Cafe Imperial. We had lunch as well. I just loved it. It's in the Imperial Hotel, one of the oldest hotels in Vienna and so very lovely. Extremely luxurious and sumptuous. I had a dish called Baked dumplings with egg and... More

We decided spur-of-the-moment to go here for drinks and a light dinner before an 20:15 show at Musikverein, right around the corner. The cafe had been recommended by a friend, more for its ambience and desserts. And it is a nice little scene; we sat in one of the red velvet-covered small window booths for the full effect. The service... More

Returned to Imperial Hotel after a visit 30 years ago. It remains an elegant classic. Lovely, large rooms and great public spaces like the beautiful bar room with jazz playing in the evenings. Enjoyed a very large spread at the breakfast buffet, with great smoked fish, cheeses and meats...expensive but includes French Champagne, if you need a hair of the... More

Having thought that the restaurant would be at the same level as the hotel, I was wrong... The service was excellent, there is nothing to criticise there, however the quality of the food was very poor...

The cafe's atmosphere is great with it's private terrace , it's very famous for the Imperial torte of the legendary hotel. I've tried the apple strudel and it's very unique and tasty, I highly recommend this place..

I am not sure if it the best Wiener Schnitzel in Vienna as it is my first day in town but it is certainly the best I have ever had. It was so light and fluffy it just melted in your mouth. Cooked in butter and pan fried not deep fried makes all the difference. The restaurant had great decor and... More

It is in Hotel Imperial, which is one of the best hotels in Vienna. The cafe is very elegant, the serice is excellent, and the prices are just a little higher, than anywhere else.

Lovely cafe whose decor suits the Imperial hotel. There is a special cake they make, that is marzipan and chocolate in a nice cube shape. The coffee was also good. There was excellent service, and the prices are comparable with nearby cafes. Make sure to visit the lobby and restrooms to complete your classy experience for low cost.

I visited during a business trip and it was my first visit to a viennese cafe. Since I had no prior comparator, I found the schnitzel to be amazing!! The service was generally polite (apart from their manager), while the atmosphere was just OK, no spectacular decorations.

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
