After having tried the Original Sacher Torte the night before at the Sacher Café, it was only right that we would try the original Imperial Torte. So after the Belvedere on our walk to the Albertina, we decided to stop into the Imperial Café at the historic Imperial Hotel. After looking at the menu, we realized our appetite called for... More

I went here for breakfast and this has to be one of the top cafes in Vienna. The ambiance is great - it almost feels like you are in turn of the century Vienna in an authentic way (decor is classic - not cheesy). The breakfast was great - as I had the Vienna sausages with poached eggs while my... More

This time we were a little disappointed simply because we found the waiting staff very in attentive. This was may be due to the fact that we decided to take a table a little in the back of the Cafe... More

Best cakes in Vienna bar none. Located on side of Imperial Hotel. The hotel itself has an excellent and very interesting history. A must see in Vienna and I would put this on the top of your list.

If you are going to the Vienna Symphony stop by afterwards for delicious desserts in the elegant surroundings of the Imperial Hotel. A true classy old world Vienna experience, and all rather reasonably priced considering the location.

How can you pass up the Imperial Torte? We love this place for their breakfast buffets and also for dessert and coffee. Great service and true old world Austrian experience!

I've lived in Vienna for 5 years and only recently went to Cafe Imperial. It was very nice but isn't my favorite. Still, we had a nice experience. Pros: -- not as touristy or crowded as Cafe Central, Demel, or Sacher -- elegant dining room and attentive service -- delicious cakes Cons: -- overpriced -- coffee was terrible I prefer... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
