Go for the view, the food's too expensive

Don't get me wrong, the food is well prepared, the portions are okay for a deluxe restaurant (no huge plates with finger food sized main courses) and the the ingredients are fairly creatively put together. However it's nothing you can't get for half the money only 38 floors lower around Vienna... read more

What a place ! Most food tastes better when the view is this good but the food was great anyway. Excellent service and if you choose wisely there is some good value wine (otherwise a daunting list) . The birthday cake was scrumptious as were the cocktails ! Overall a lovely evening for a special occasion!

+ The best foie gras ever had + Perfect view - service was average: you felt like your annoying the staff, by waiting the menu or wanting to order. Service was a bit snob.

We watched a beautiful sunset at The Loft. That and the rippling colored ceiling makes for and excellent venue. We had the Chefs Menu and were amazed at the entree which was chunks of beetroot with a honey emulsion. To die for. A bit overpriced, but worth it.

This restaurant is situated on the top of the Sofitel hotel. View and decoration are amazing. Best place in Vienna to spend a romantic evening. Food is on good level, quite expensive, service is very slow, but the view and ambience...

The food and service are excellent. The view of Vienna is unsurpassed. Evening lighting highlights the ceiling artwork.

Five star view, two stars for food, which was overpriced and over-crafted. Waitstaff appropriately attentive, cocktails nicely mixed, but the dinner wasn't worth the euros. Make a reservation for an early cocktail at the bar, then head to one of Vienna's many excellent restaurants for dinner.

Fabulous food with superb service. great views of the city. We had truly great food & enjoyed our meal but it was gradually spoilt by a terrible rotten smell. We had been seated near to the kitchen entrance where we could see the dirty dishes piling up but I don't think that was the cause of the smell. It seemed... More

You need a reservation to get in this amazing place on top of Sofitel hotel. Splendid view, cosy atmosphere, very friendly staff with fast and appropriate service. Take the menu with wine arrangement, very surprising and high quality level. Adjusting the menu for vegetarian was performed with a smile and delicious plates!

Only had breakfast here which was a great way to start the day with the views over the city and great service. Could well imagine this being the place to be as the sun goes down and the Vienna skyline lights up.

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city center and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theaters, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
