We always take visiting guests there for breakfast. Since the refurbishment, the cake display is at the front and what a show! The service has been on and off. On the better side of typical Viennese service though. Great service last Sunday.

The surroundings are opulent and the cakes are as good as they look. It is overpriced and the staff are pretentious. It’s an iconic venue and you have to try it.

After reviews and recommendations we visited this cafe. Its interior is beautiful and the surrounds provide an elegant setting. Unfortunately my experience here was poor. The waiter we had was very rude to both my mother and I. I often keep an open mind about people who's first language is not English as often it can be seen as rude.... More

This place is beautiful with lots of old world coffeehouse charm. We stopped in for a light lunch and dessert. The potato soup was delicious. We watched lots of people order the apple strudel and figured we were in Vienna, so we should get the classic. I was kind of underwhelmed. There isn't much to the pastry, it was just... More

A nice place with classic Viennese ambiance, but the food is not equal to its appearance. We had the classic Veal Schnitzel, pumpkin soup, and cheese strudel. It was all good but not the best; we ate better similar dishes at other places not so famous. The prices are a bit on the high side but to eat and listen... More

My wife and I had a lovely refuel stop at this famous old establishment during our stay in Vienna. Even as you approach the building the old grandeur of the place is evident. There is a lovely seating area outside, but despite the nice weather we decided to enjoy the ambience of the great vaulted indoors. The interiors of the... More

If you're like me, a lactose intolerant person frustrated about not being able to try all the goodies Vienna has to offer, look no further. Central Café is the only place I found in Vienna that al least offers non-dairy milk for all the coffee drinks, and if you ask nicely, you might even get a nice waiter that will... More

The Central Cafe is a Vienna institution. Yes, if one goes to Vienna, you need to try a coffee house and this is one of the best. Old world charm and great coffee and pastries.

This is one of the greatest experiences in Vienna. There are many wonderful Cafes in the city, and we visited five or six. But the Cafe Central is the most glamorous and evocative of all of them, like a Cathedral of culture. From the array of amazing cakes and pastries to the sunlight filtering in through the high vaulted windows,... More

I expected not to like Cafe Central much because how could a place with such an historic reputation be other than pricey and tourist-filled. Imagine my surprise when we went in for a late bowl of soup and dessert on our first night and found the place filled but not bustling, the service friendly, the food delivery relatively prompt and the...
