Loved the breakfast - everything was fresh. Pastry was tasty too. The interiors - very nicely old-fashioned with huge pillars & paintings makes up for a very regal setup. Worth it!

Come here to have a moment of perfect Viennese pampering - a Wiener Melange, Central Schnitte (I challenge anyone to find a better Mille-Feuille), along with one of the huge range of newspapers and magazines available. It's hard even to be put off by the throngs of photo-snapping touring groups.

No trip to Vienna is complete without a visit to Cafe Central near Herrengasse. This famous traditional cafe with its 130-year history was apparently a popular meeting place for historical figures who made significant contributions to art, literature, politics and science, such as Arthur Schnitzler, Sigmund Freud, Peter Altenberg and Leo Trotzki. Indeed, Cafe Central's unique architecture (characterized by its... More

The food was not excellent, but the "Vienese coffee" (according to our very honest waitress: it's just coffee with whip cream, it's for tourists") - but was great! And the ambiance is awesome - go for coffee only!

The food was good/very good, the desert was very good and the décor was outstanding. We were served quickly and not rushed at all. May daughters took a load of pictures here - fantastic ambiance.

Make this lovely cafe a must stop when you are in Vienna for a number of reasons. The ambience of the place certainly made these two Americans feel that we were dinning in an important part of history. The Baroque architecture within the cafe is delightful, and the artistically arranged lovely pastries will make your mouth water. We tried the... More

By the time you enter the cafe you understand that you are at the right place for sweet and a coffee break!!! The sweets are amazing, the best we tried in Vienna, and the selection of coffees is also very good.

Cafe Central is worth a visit, if only for the fact that it is one of the few restaurants open on Sunday, and is air-conditioned. The food is average - they rely upon their reputation and tourist appeal rather than quality of food. It may be different in Winter. However, the service is very professional and the ambiance is Old... More

Come here if you want a classic historical Viennese cafe. Just had dessert, but that was plenty. You look in the case of elegantly decorated slices of cake, & then let your waiter know what # cake you'd like. Mine had delicate chocolate layers with mousse & gold pieces on top. Atmosphere is like non other.
