Great pub style food

We visited this cafe a few times - it was just so close to the hotel. Great draught beer and a varied selection of tasty well cooked meals. Staff are very friendly. Bit of a struggle to get past the scrummy selection of cakes as you make your way to the cosy booths.....

Easy access to public transportation. The food was scrumptious, fast, and reasonably priced. Highly recommended!

This cafe was situated about 1 minute away from our hotel so it was the first cafe/restaurant we went to! Most places would usually panic when 31 hungry people come in ordering various different meals, however the staff were very laid back and helpful especially with the language barrier! They have a lovely selection of cakes and it is perfect... More

On the edge of the ringroad and next to the first stop on the No 2 tram in the beginning of Josefstädter Strasse, this is a great place to sit down have a break on your tour through Vienna. The service is good and the menu should cater for all the basic needs for breakfast to late afternoon. Setting is... More

We were staying just across the road from here at Levante Parliament hotel. So glad we decided to try out Cafe Eiles for breakfast and dinner. We liked their food, coffee and service so much that we went there every morning and night of our 4 day stay. Such a relaxed place to eat in. I actually like it that... More

This restaurant was visited for breakfast and was a disappointment. The scrambled eggs was like a cross between omelette and fried eggs with yolk broken. And the worst thing was the day old croissant it was so stale.

We came for a late dinner. The service was poor. The food was so-so. Received glass of beer with the remaining of lipstick. The advantage of the place is that it is working till late hours.

This cafeteria was next to my hotel and I visited it twice during my stay in Vienna. It has stylish decoration and relaxed atmosphere where locals and tourist can have coffee, drink or something to eat. Menu is simple but wholesome and staff very polite. I wish I could have corner cafe like this at home.

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theater, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighborhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicenter. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighborhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
