Hard to say in this one -- pros and cons

Went here recently with some friends and my views are pretty mixed. We went to the one on Burggasse in 1070 but apparently there is another in 1130. Pros: - The atmosphere inside the cafe is really nice. It's nicely decorated and inviting. - The baked goods look amazing and the ones we tried were... read more

The pure living bakery has been my favourite place for drinking good coffees, eating delicious crumbles and bagels and just spending some quality time with friends. I'm really into sweet things and even there are a lot of places in Vienna where you find really good cakes and cookies like the K&K Konditoreien with plenty of extraordinarily good and tradtionial... Dear Astrid_Johanna My apologies for the delay in replying. I was very sorry to read about your experience and apologise unreservedly. PLB is proud to welcome our customers who have been coming here for many years as well as new ones. I am embarrassed that our usually high standards have not been followed by new members of staff. I would... More

This place is really meh. Totally underwhelming cakes at pretty steep prices and small portions verging on the unacceptable. No prams allowed and service doesn't come to the table. Not exactly sure what I was paying for in the end.

One of those places in town that I guess only native people and random strangers can appear here. A place made and designed in besr traditions of cafeterias, where except many and new (at least for me) types of coffees, one can enjoy the place itself. Strongly recommended.

my search for an American bakery led me here. While the service, chocolate shake and cakes were excellent, I would definitely avoid the brownies and cookies. Atmosphere was great - quite relaxing and inviting. Ill go back but will know what to order.

My favorite afterwork coffee with a creat crumble cake in Vienna. The vintage style character makes such a cosy atmosphere!

This is a review of the Downtown location in Neubau. If you are tired of the chains and all of the "pastries" masquerading as awesome but really just corporate crap, then this bakery is for you. The interior is an awesome, eclectic mix and the owner told us that it was her collection of various items she had gathered in... More

Cute Cafe from the outside but very rude staff: unless welcoming us just said you are not allowed to come in with your trolley. Alternatively nothing mentioned, so we left.

We thought it would be crazy crowded since it is so close to Schonbrunn, but actually it wasn't. We found a cozy couch near the window and enjoyed cake and cookies with a nice cappuccino. They draw different shapes on the coffee foam, which is really cute. The young guys and girls at the counter are super friendly. It seems... More

I am from Vienna but I am travelling in Europe most of them but when I coming home the living bakery is a must go! I dont know any other place where one can have such a great coffee, shake, cookie and cake variety! The staff is always friendly and relaxed and you just feel like home and can relax... More

Staying in Hietzing

Neighborhood Profile
Hietzing
Vienna’s 13th district has always been in the shadow of Schönbrunn Palace and its gardens, but has interesting hidden gems waiting to be discovered. Allow half a day for the imposing Habsburg residence and the gardens with Gloriette belvedere. Reserve the other half to discover the secret charms of this posh residential neighborhood. Sneak out of the gardens at Hietzinger Tor (Hietzing Gate) and head down Hietzinger Hauptstrasse for Kaiserpavillon (Emperor’s pavilion), an Art Nouveau gem right on top of U4’s metro railtracks. At local institutions Café Dommayer and restaurant Plachutta you can mingle with residents, their families and friends. Dommayer has risen to fame since waltz king Johann Strauss and his orchestra performed there regularly. If you want to go beyond private villa gazing visit Klimtvilla and Hermesvilla. Art Nouveau genius Gustav Klimt had his last studio in a now beautifully renovated villa, which is open during spring and summer. Hermesvilla at Lainzer Tiergarten animal enclosure and nature park is a must for all romantics and fans of Empress Sissi.
