Grumpy service, but the schnitzel...!

Cosy restaurant, with absolutely the very best Wiener schnitzel I ever had - this alone is worth a visit, but be prepared for some of the grumpiest (read: rude) waiters this side of the Alps...4 out of 5 only because of the quality of the schnitzel (and the Apfelstrudel 😊).

This is the place to enjoy the unadulterated cuisine of Vienna. A short menu of classics including Blunsen, Beuschel, Calves Cheek and Tafelspitz. Desserts like Powidl Tascherln and Topfencrème. A expertly selected list of the best Austrian wines and top choices by the glass. A warm, welcoming and high class ambience. Professional, knowledgeable, attentive, courteous service of a level of... The Concierge at the Grand recommended Huth as the place where the locals go to to eat viennese and austrian dishes. We were not disappointed. My Wiener Schnietzel was the best I ever had, and my wife had some meat balls which were heaven. Priced were quite reasonable! I definitely recommend Huth!

We had dinner at huth gastwirtschaft and lunch across the street at huth Da Max and both were excellent. The schnitzel at Gastwirtschaft was perfectly prepared. The vegetable and burrata salad and the cheese sausages at Da Max were also delicious.

Well run restaurant with great items on the menu - some classics and some updated modern Viennese dishes. Not a huge menu but had solid choices - portions are huge - I think that's the norm in Vienna!

Thursday evening, dinner for two, bottle of local house red,a very good pork pate with bread placed immediately on the table, and the dish of the day, served with aplomb. Nothing was too much trouble, and well worth a return visit....

We were staying in the Hotel Kaiserin Elisabeth on Weihburggasse and headed out on our first night to look for a nice spot to have dinner. We had only walked a few steps when my husband noticed Huth - right next door to our hotel. We could see from the menu that this place served authentic Viennese dishes in a... More

Were recommended here for dinner by the concierge of our hotel and a booking made by him. When we arrived (on time), seemed as if we were almost an inconvenience, and they were not particularly busy at that time. The food was good, but not any better than anywhere else. Quite expensive in comparison with other restaurants in the area.... More

Stopped in for lunch after my walking tour. My guide said it was a nice restaurant without too many tourists. He was right. They gave me a table in front of the bar which was nice since I was on my own and could watch all of the activity. I had the fish(char) with spinach and risotto and a glass... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
