Traditional food at reasonable prices

The food was great. Its a come as you are policy, but many were more dressed up than in other restaurants in Austria. The service was good - a good mix of traditional and contemporary. While it is possible to eat and drink for eu 25 a plate, you could easily spend 50 - 75. They do have several... read more

I've dined here with both local and visiting colleagues: both times I found the food to be delicious and well-portioned. The standard menu is traditional Austrian; their beer and wine selections also are domestic: in the former, I have come to enjoy unpasteurized local (Zwickel) beer, and would recommend this to beer aficionadi. The Huth family also runs a couple... More

There is a lot of meat on the menus in restaurants in Vienna so it was lovely to have tuna. It was cooked perfectly (very rare) and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Others in our group enjoyed their meat dishes. This restaurant was probably the best of the four we visited during our stay. Highly recommended.

We ordered two Weissbeer. This came with slim 0.25 l glasses. All you had was foam. When I asked for proper Weissbeerglasses, I got the answer - theer are no glasses anymore. Then teh waiter took away both our half enpty glasses and bottles and came back with wine glasses and the bottles. Drinking weissbeer from Rotwine glasses is a... More

All was good and food tasty until... You see the cook spit in the kitchen and pick his nose I guess it's ok if you like some "local" flavor Also, I asked if service was included to which the waiter responded, "no, 10% is customary", well, guess what, it's not customary and in Vienna you only round up. Avoid the... More

Huth was recommended by a local acquaintance as offering typical Viennese dining. We went there in asparagus season, and like many other places, Huth offered a special menu for "Spargelzeit". We liked the place so much we went back 4 times, on 1 occasion with a group of friends, and had asparagus on all but 1 of those times. The... More

This is the place to enjoy the unadulterated cuisine of Vienna. A short menu of classics including Blunsen, Beuschel, Calves Cheek and Tafelspitz. Desserts like Powidl Tascherln and Topfencrème. A expertly selected list of the best Austrian wines and top choices by the glass. A warm, welcoming and high class ambience. Professional, knowledgeable, attentive, courteous service of a level of... A nice restaurant with high quality food. Coming from Norway it was not expensive even though this is considered "high end" Austrian restaurant. 35-45 Euros for a 3 course lunch. Nice and welcoming staff. I can highly recommend the schnitzel at this restaurant.

The Concierge at the Grand recommended Huth as the place where the locals go to to eat viennese and austrian dishes. We were not disappointed. My Wiener Schnietzel was the best I ever had, and my wife had some meat balls which were heaven. Priced were quite reasonable! I definitely recommend Huth!

We had dinner at huth gastwirtschaft and lunch across the street at huth Da Max and both were excellent. The schnitzel at Gastwirtschaft was perfectly prepared. The vegetable and burrata salad and the cheese sausages at Da Max were also delicious.

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
