Fantastic birthday treat

Was taken to this restaurant for a birthday dinner by my best friend whilst I was Vienna. Although the cheese for dessert was very good, the starter of clear Lobster soup with Fennel, Carrot & Tarragon (consommé) was probably the best I have ever tasted - highly recommended!

We were able to get a table without a reservation on a cloudy Saturday afternoon. We ordered the European cheese plate for two. It took longer than expected to get our plate but we were not disappointed. We received ample portions of 9 cheeses from 8 different countries. My wife and I both had two glasses of excellent wine to... More

We heard many positive things about this restaurant. We made a reservation, confirmed our reservation, and arrived at the restaurant. We were 20 minutes early. Our party of three was dressed nicely and we were prepared to have a very nice lunch. Unfortunately, we stood for fifteen minutes while staff did not acknowledge us, in fact it seemed as we... More

Excellent everything! Our waitress was utterly professional as well as being friendly and welcoming, the choice of breakfast available catered for all types, the food was magnificent and the fresh fruit juice & coffee sublime. Book in advance to avoid disappointment. This is a gem of a restaurant.

The restaurant is the ideal choice if you want a serene place, very good service, constantly delicious cuisine (with a lot of Viennese style in it), and all that at a moderate by Vienna's standards price. We never stop discovering new places in Vienna, but Meierei is always recalled as something very special.

Meierei is the more casual little sister to the posh Steiereck next door. It's set in the gardens on the canal and so comfortable and relaxed. Beautiful fit out - must have taken a dozen photos of all the clever details - super friendly service with just the right mix between coming quickly and not feeling rushed at all to... More

My husband and I had a table reserved at 4pm ( evening was fully booked ). When we ask the waitress for our table she offered us several but non had a setting. We waited for 10 minutes for a waiter and than my husband got up and ask if we could get severed. The food was good but the... More

The "Meierei im Stadtpark" (and not "am Stadtpark" how it is wrongly entitled here) is the less expensive sister restaurant of the famous Steirereck which is in the same building. Both restaurants are located in the Stadtpark and on a warm day you can sit outside on the terrace of the Meierei with a great view onto the canal through... More

We've eaten here in past years, and enjoyed both the food and the riverside ambiance. So I reserved in advance, and requested an outside table. We didn't get that, but I can't complain about it, as on such a warm day I imagine everyone asked to sit outside, and all the outside tables were occupied. First thing we noticed was... More

We had one dinner here in summer, seated outside on river bank. The smell of the "river" is quite strong, but inside there is no A/C so it's even worst. Food is good, but choices are very limited to few typical Austrian meals. Service is very average too. Then I have asked for wifi and the answer was no, even... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
