Beautiful setting, great food and fantastic service

I ate lunch here with my teenage son as part of his 16th birthday treat. He wanted to visit Vienna (his grandfather was from there originally)and try Viennese food which he had researched especially. I ate lunch here with my teenage son as part of his 16th birthday treat. He wanted to visit Vienna (his grandfather was from there originally)and try Viennese food which he had researched especially. The restaurant has large picture windows onto the park and the canal and the autumn colours made this especially beautiful. There is always something to watch... More

It was a nice breakfast in a stylish place right in the centre of Vienna in Stadtpark. You can choose between 3 breakfast options from 20 to 23 euro without drinks. I tried Meierei breakfast including youghurt, salmon, cheese plate, omlette and strudel. The portions are all in a right size and even men were full after we finished the... More

The traditional "Wedding Soup" was delicious, and a spicy pumpkin soup had enough paprika and elegant garnishes to be very interesting. House-baked black pudding bread was chewy and delicious and made me think that the English sausage makers could learn something here. A version of goulash that really blended textures and flavors delightfully was better than the competent but boring... More

During a visit to Vienna to visit friends we went to this restaurant, late in the afternoon prio to a concert. The staff were welcoming and discrete. The menu was a little tricky for a coupe who eat out mainly in France but the young waiter was very helpful and we all got what we wanted. The entrees were superb... More

Was taken to this restaurant for a birthday dinner by my best friend whilst I was Vienna. Although the cheese for dessert was very good, the starter of clear Lobster soup with Fennel, Carrot & Tarragon (consommé) was probably the best I have ever tasted - highly recommended!

We were able to get a table without a reservation on a cloudy Saturday afternoon. We ordered the European cheese plate for two. It took longer than expected to get our plate but we were not disappointed. We received ample portions of 9 cheeses from 8 different countries. My wife and I both had two glasses of excellent wine to... More

We heard many positive things about this restaurant. We made a reservation, confirmed our reservation, and arrived at the restaurant. We were 20 minutes early. Our party of three was dressed nicely and we were prepared to have a very nice lunch. Unfortunately, we stood for fifteen minutes while staff did not acknowledge us, in fact it seemed as we... More

Excellent everything! Our waitress was utterly professional as well as being friendly and welcoming, the choice of breakfast available catered for all types, the food was magnificent and the fresh fruit juice & coffee sublime. Book in advance to avoid disappointment. This is a gem of a restaurant.

The restaurant is the ideal choice if you want a serene place, very good service, constantly delicious cuisine (with a lot of Viennese style in it), and all that at a moderate by Vienna's standards price. We never stop discovering new places in Vienna, but Meierei is always recalled as something very special.

Meierei is the more casual little sister to the posh Steiereck next door. It's set in the gardens on the canal and so comfortable and relaxed. Beautiful fit out - must have taken a dozen photos of all the clever details - super friendly service with just the right mix between coming quickly and not feeling rushed at all to... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
