First taste of Austria's food

We planned to walk to city center but felt suddenly hungry. We were beginning our walk when we happened to look across the street. Lo, and behold, food! We changed our plans and so glad we did. I ordered chicken cooked with pumpkin batter and a salad; I don't know what all was in that salad, but I... read more

Even though we had not reserved a table, we were welcomed and given a table for four - whilst there were just two of us. The service was excellent in terms of politeness, attentiveness and accomodating a choice not even on the menu. The food itself was well presented, had a quirky twist to what was a traditional dish and... More

The new Hauptbahnhof (Hbf., Main Train Station) area is just evolving. Vienna’s 10th district is a classical working class neighborhood now dominated by a migrant population. - So, no wonder, no one comes here for an evening out. For e few years now and preparing for the opening of the new hub “The Ringsmuth” sets some interesting accents in neighborhood... More

We stumbled on this place because it was near our hotel. Everything about our meals was superb. There is a cover charge of €2 but the rolls and butter were delicious. I had rack of lamb which had been cut off the bone and it was perfect. I also loved the verges and polenta. My husband had beef which was... More

The restaurant was near the hotel where I have stayed. Due to Tripadvisor, I found this place. The service was okay, the food was great. Especially, the desert - chocolate musse - amazing!

Very near the new HAUPTBAHNHOF. (Central rail station) this well booked restaurant offers for instance GRIESNOCKERLSUPPE , GRAMMELKNÕDEL or BEUSCHL or ZWIEBELROSTBRATEN. of good quality in big enough portions

The restaurant is located outside Vienna’s city centre close to the new Hauptbannhof. A very comprehensive Austrian menu, nicely decorated interiors and an average service complemented with a fair choice of local wines. The food is not impressive but is well cooked although missing some “character”. Probably the best option near the train station.

Located adjacent to the newly constructed Hauptbahnhof and accessible by UBahn, Ringsmuth offers delectable dining options despite being outside the inner city Vienna. The setting is elegant yet not stuffy, staff very friendly and efficient, and the menu offers diverse seasonal fare (in good-sized portions). While seemingly traditional, creativity marks the diverse range of dishes offered. We were three to... More

We were pretty upset at having just missed our connection to Bratislava at the new Wien Hauptbahnof, but were pleasantly surprised to find this little restaurant across the street. The restaurant itself is divided into smoking and non-smoking sections, and is done up in a cosy wood-inspired cabin design. Christmas decorations were put up as well, lending a nice little... More

Situated near the central station, this is a little gem. Great selection of Austrian wine and food and well able to cope with large groups booking at short notice. I ate Rindsgulasch mit Semmelknödel (Von der Wade) as a starter and moved to the Entrecôte mit Zucchini, hausgemachten Pommes for my main course. The fries were different (perhaps a little... More
