Our hotel concierge suggested this restaurant and what a good idea. Small family run with good honest viennese food with a home cooked feel. Good friendly welcome and attentive service. Excellent value for money. The apple strudel completed a very enjoyable meal.

Non-smoking restaurant. Yea! Very small and intimate. One waiter who was very attentive. Really enjoyed this restaurant. Food was nicely prepared and presented.

Looking around for dinner around the central part of the city was getting very hard on a busy Friday night and we ended up in this lovely little restaurant. A small menu but boy... everything we tried was great. The cream of asparagus soup, the traditional schnitzel and the caramelized nuts salad were all wonderful. For desert, apple strudel was... We had reserved in another restaurant but because that restaurant was a smoke-restaurant we decided to change it to Kuckuck. We went there neutral but came out with a favorite for our Vienna-list. The restaurant has about 20 tables with a very nice interior. The food came fast and was very good. They deserve a higher place at Tripadvisor.

I was for Dinner in "Der Kuckuck" with my wife. It is a surprisingly small restaurant which nevertheless serves a great variety of food that tastes as good as it looks and sounds. Service is friendly without being intrusive. You should like Viennese music (not Schrammeln but at least Walzer) because this music is playing all the time - not... More

Great little restaurant in a side street away from the hustle and bustle of Stephansplatz. Typical Austrian cuisine and wine, friendly service, interior a little shabby-chic but a nice cosy atmosphere I would say great for a nice romantic meal or special occasion like a birthday.

We've been to this charming restaurant several times, enjoying each and every meal along with the friendly service natural for smaller establishments like this one, but best of all was the six-course dinner we had on Christmas eve with visiting family. I heartily recommend it as a great holiday event or as a venue for good food, good service, and... More

Finding somewhere to eat in Vienna on a Sunday evening is not easy, and after much street pounding my friend and I came across this place. The restaurant serves typical Austrian food, which is not my favourite, so I can't really be objective about the dishes we were served. It was OK. Service was friendly and efficient (we were one... With only 10-12 tables is small, but its like having dinner in a friends home. True to its name the walls have cuckoo clocks that add a home like atmosphere as they cuckoo in the background. The food and service were great and being in the center of the city, its easy to get there.

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
