This tiny, authentically Austrian bistro oozes charm and then backs it up with excellent food and truly memorable service. The menu, including the winelist, offers very good selection and very reasonable prices. Located just off the famed Kärtnerstrasse shopping area in the heart of old Vienna... read more

Do not go unless you want to be abused, locked in the resturant and threatend. Terrible service, the bill was wrong three times as they put on incorrect items and we were charged 3.50 Euros for hot water! A disgrace! When we asked for the correct bill we were verbally abused so we added up the items and left the... More

Restaurant Der Kuchuck (Cuckoo). Spartan decor. Manager was the same as when previously visited a few years ago, but rest of the staff had changed. Menu was very basic and limited in choice. Service from young male waiter was extremely poor and bordered upon comical and farcical. Table near us ordered some schnapps and they received beers. A party of... More

Just stumbled upon this restaurant while walking through the streets of Vienna. The name did it and a quick look inside persuaded us to go inside. Although the manager was a bit apathic the old waiter was so kind and welcoming. He ran around like was a lot years younger. Immediate sympathy for him as he also made us laugh... More

We went to this small restaurant on Christmas Eve. The food was very good and tasteful, (a 5 course meal) The atmosphere is also cozy. The only downside was that the booking administration for the specific night was a bit of a disaster. They could hardly found anybody on their list, including us. There were queues and you had the... We made reservations weeks ago and even gave them our cc # to secure our spot for Christmas dinner. However we called them today to confirm and they said they didn't have any record of our reservation, hours before we were set to arrive!! Would NOT recommend this place at all.

I phoned the restaurant to reserve a table for Christmas Eve dinner. The man on the phone shouted at me and said that I must go onto their website and email them/contact them through the website. I did this (both an email and through the website) and they didn't reply (including credit card details). I then phoned them again to... More

I just saw the other recent reviews and have no idea what they are talking about! The place is very quaint. The food is authentic. I had the escargot and the pork tenderloin. The escargot was the best I have ever tasted in the world. The pork tenderloin with cabbage and dumplings was delicious. We had a few different wines... More

Very strange guy at the reception, very unfriendly, a problem with the booking and then a terrible service. The food was very basic and the room doesn't reflect at all the nice photos in the tourist guidebook. i really wonder if it's a tourist trap more than a proper restaurant...

This restaurant is very very small. All of the tables are packed together and it was so hot it was like a sauna. The service was the worst service I had ever received. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
