We found this restaurant via Tripadvisor and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was excellent and filling, the atmosphere Viennese. The service was fast and friendly, the prices very reasonable. If you are looking for a family restaurant, it's worthwhile to stop here, not far from Ubahn Museumsquartier.

This was the 4th time having dinner in this restaurant. Every time we visit Vienna, for at least 1 night, we plan having dinner in here. Vienesse schnitzel is very tasty and draught beer also. The only thing disappointed us this time was the services......restaurant had arround 10 tables booked and was only 1 water, not so nice because of... More

Rather cheep restaurant in Vienna's main shopping street. Given the moderate prices ok. Most expensive dish is filet for EUR 19.90. Do not have too high expectations. The vintages of the wines on the menu card are not available. Service seems stressed allthoug not too crowdy. Dish was on the table 5 minutes after ordering. Order, eat, pay and leave...

What a delight to find this restaurant in our neighborhood!! Nice atmosphere, quiet enough to converse, and we were pleased with our dinner. We were not very adventurous as we both had the wiener schnitzel with pommes frites...but that with a grande cold beer kept us happy. Reasonably priced, nice outdoor sitting area...what is there not to like!!

We had the best wiener snitzel here. We ordered a mixed salad to share between two along withe the snitzel and potato salad. The snitzel was brumbies well and tender, potato salad had a lovely taste and mixed salad we ordered was fresh with a nice dressing. Would definitely order this again and highly recommended. The waiter was friendly.

We wanted to go to one of the well-known "Schnitzel"-Places like Figlmüller but were too tired. So after shopping we stayed at Hoofbräu and we didn't miss out on one of the better Schnitzels. It was like it should be, hot and rippled like it should be. Add a cool beer and you are a happy man!

It was our last night in Vienna. Tired but hungry, we decided to stay local to our hotel. Once again, we found a nice place to enjoy a meal. The price was right and the food excellent. My choice was pork with sauerkraut and a dumpling! Wonderful and no room for dessert. The service was attentive and once again we... More

Stopped in Hoofbrau to escape the torrential rain. It was early event on a threat and the place was deserted. A very big space with my self and tell other customers. I speak minimal German but managed to order a beer and a salad with prawns and mozzarella, which sounds odd, however turned out to be delicious and filling -... More

1) Dining atmosphere: Thanks to the amazing interior design and well-selected background music, Hoofbrau provides you with a romantic dining environment. 2) Food: My boyfriend and I followed the recommendations from Tripadvisor, and we enjoyed our meal so much. Specifically, we are particularly satisfied with the sliced beef with cream. Oh, if you love beer, you must also try the... More

Staying in Mariahilf

Neighborhood Profile
Mariahilf
Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna and the center. One of the most historic sites in the area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with its small shops and cafés. It leads from Mariahilfer Strasse to Windmühlgasse. For a glimpse into the world of early 19th century theater, visit Semperdepot, the former depository for theater decoration, which now hosts art exhibitions and fairs.
