Good food, huge portiond

They should call this place "the potato shop", since everything has potatoes in it. However, the food was very good and the portion size too much for one meal. I had a seasonal crimini mushroom soup that was delicious, followed by a roast pork, onion potato hash in a skillet (which came with a... read more

We had been recommended to go to this restaurant by a friend who lives in Vienna. She is vegetarian but said we meat eaters would also enjoy it. When I saw the menu, like others, I cracked up at seeing the number of dishes with potatoes in them! Almost everything in the main course menu has potatoes but once you... More

If you don't like potatoes, don't bother! But if you do...lovely, casual, friendly dining place. Potato cakes, gnocchi with mussels, baked potatoes, potato & apple - great - especially if you're vegetarian, as in a lot of restaurants in Vienna you won't get much choice, if any, whereas here there's loads. Not the best meals I've ever had (we went... More

I just wanted something simple and tasty. This place was perfect. Large portion size, very friendly staff and very, very tasty food.

My wife had been before, me for the first time. The food was good but the portions were so large that I could only finish one half - one and a half large jacket potatoes, great pile of steinpilz (mushrooms) and six or seven chickens had given up their livers for it. I'm not known for my dainty appetite! The... More

This is one of my favorite places in Vienna. I always go there during every trip. What I love about this place is their home made potato chips and dips. I also love their special apple juice. I have never tasted such wonderful juice. Their dinner options are also very good. They have inside and outside seating. The service is... More

This was a great lunch find for us on our way to the MAK design museum - creative food with Austrian influences. My dish was a rethink of doner kebab - "lamb burger" with thin lamb patties and eggplant sandwiched between two fried potato-polenta patties with traditional sauce and salad. My wife had a salad with couscous and apple, surrounded... More

For lunch, on a nice sunny day, we found this nice streetside restaurant (just opposite Porgy and Bess if you use Google Nav). Between St Stephens and Stadtpark We tried the Chalk-Board, Erdäpfelstrudel mit Faschiertem. (Flaky pastry rolled around Potato, bacon, herbs and onions) Very tasty, and served with pepper sauce and a very nice indeed large iceberg lettuce, very... More

Just a short walk from the main shopping area this is definitely a good place for lunch. Specializes in potato and apple Viennese dishes so vegetarians will love it - but also meat dishes if you want. We had wild garlic potato cakes with cabbage and asparagus mash - delicious!

We eat there a special potato dish and viennese shnitzel. Not great and nor bad. Just nothing special to tell you about. We could find better restaurants to eat .

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
