Really quite excellent

We came to La Ciel on a Saturday evening during a quick weekend break in Vienna. Service and food were both of a very high standard. On first review of the menu, I was not inspired, but my other half had been recommended the degustation. It was executed extremely well and the menu does not do... read more

We came to La Ciel on a Saturday evening during a quick weekend break in Vienna. Service and food were both of a very high standard. On first review of the menu, I was not inspired, but my other half had been recommended the degustation. It was executed extremely well and the menu does not do the dishes justice -... More

When you mention fine dining you expect a small portion but the very best. From the reviews it portrayed an amazing place for my fiancée birthday. Unfortunately the choice wasn't great so we had to got for the set menu. All pretty average to be honest lots of rich flavours thrown together but seemed like lots of butter within each.... More

The Ciel is the perfect place for a high end dining experience with your wife or business partner. Our experience was made exceptional by the service which favors conversations. The food is great with some of the dishes fabulous. I would recommend the chef courses as prices are relatively affordable. The cheese plate was fantastic but for us it really... More

Had special team lunch there. You need to go up with the elevator, in front of the restaurant is a small cloakroom, if you are a group it is posiible to leave your coats with one number (faster). Area with the tables was a bit strangely open for me, wasn't that impressed. Was also asking for an nonalcoholic aperitiv, only... More

This was a special treat for a special day with the family while travelling. The starters were both 9/10 but the main and desserts were only average. Service and setting we excellent.

The ambiance is lovely and the service superb. It is an experience that my adult children and I will not forget. We wanted a special lunch while in Vienna for Christmas and surely, we had an experience in a beautiful place and servers that are nearly psychic in their ability to anticipate every need. At the same time, despite that... More

The food here is really unique, very tasty but the atmosphere is quite stuffy- you feel a bit on display which isn't really our style. It was quite obvious that whilst the staff are well trained and very professional, they're more likely to want to give time & attention to customers they deem to be more 'important' aka dressed as... After three visits, this is still one of my darlings in Vienna. The dining rooms are beautifully decorated, ambience and service is top class. My seven course menu this evening brought me an original, sour and lovely plate of spaghetti pumpkin, wonderful tuna tartare, a little bland lettuce heart, divine sea bass, very good pigeon and ended with excellent cheese... We heard about the restaurant from our private tour guide. We wanted a fine dining experience after the Opera. We arrived at 2100 and did not leave until 2400. The service was impeccable. The food varied from course to course but was all first class. This was the perfect ending to a great evening.

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
