Romantic old-world ambience and excellent service

Le Ciel offers a very traditional upscale dining experience, which certainly may not be to the tastes of those looking for cutting-edge haute cuisine, but was exactly what we were looking for on our last trip to Vienna. Very good food served in an impressing and nice room at the top of the hotel. We enjoyed the food, it was tasty and ok. Not very creative and experimental, but we felt coming back a few houndred years in these nice rooms. Expensive!

As we stayed in the Grand Hotel, we wanted to dinner in one of the better places in Vienna. On the rooftop, beautiful view over the city, a hot evening (see pic). Food: marvelous, especially the 'in-betweens' or amuses; service: very good, we had nothing to complain. But, when you overlook the bill: € 9,- for a bottle of water... More

Wow, not sure how this place got so many good reviews but I certainly did not have a good experience there. Saw this on trip advisor and was attracted to the very nice interior decor and the fact that they had someone playing the piano while people are dining, so we booked it. Got there at 8pm on a Saturday... More

I went there with my girlfriend for dinner. Interior is welcoming and in classic design. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Food is of very good quality and it was a pleasure to spend the evening at this place. When we are back to Vienna, we will come back.

We have tasted a three courses menu included wine !! The different meals were quite good but in the first meal of my partner she found it a hair inside the meal, obviously she rejected the meal and they change the meals with just a couple of words as apologize of the waiter !! they didnt give enough attention to... Truly Old World class! Le Ciel ( it sits on the 7th floor of the Grand Hotel Wien overlooking the city) is where you want to go to impress anybody! The service is perfect and so is the decor, and the food is truly amazing. We ordered a beta sweet carrot starter with green apples and horseradish and then the... More

The service was good, but it's not worth the price considering: - our wine was from an old bottle and had turned to vinegar; the second glass -- a different kind -- wasn't much better - they offered very few non-alcoholic drinks - they charged extra (split plate fee) for us to share dessert and an appetizer (we just weren't... Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
