Good food

Came here and had the goulash. I was very happy with the food and service. The beer was good and being able to sit outside in this small square was a bonus. Would come again.

Food food if not limited but service terrible! Waited to be served inside more focus on outside, served wrong meal and had to wait again and then to find out cash only. If have room for people need to ensure enough staff and big enough kitchen!!

We had a small lunch there. The staff was friendly enough, the food exactly what we expected. A quiet place to eat if you eat inside.

The location is nice but the food was very plain and tasteless. My mum couldn't even finish her meal. Our waitress had an attitude and was slow to take our order and bring the bill.

Enjoy summer evenings on the "platz" outside this charming old cafe or, if it's cool, venture inside and head downstairs to the old keller with its quaint nooks and vaulted brick ceiling. The centuries will melt away, and the food will melt in your mouth. It's not a fancy place: far from it! The fare is simple, yet fresh, tasty,... More

We enjoyed a fine dinner at the Esterhazykeller last November, when the weather was quite chilly; that night, I really enjoyed my dish but my wife's grilled trout fillets looked so good that I had one of those why-didn't-I-order-that moments. Thus, on this very warm summer evening in early July, we found ourselves in the neighborhood again and of course... More

There is an ancient cellar, even frequented by Haydn, with authentic "Wiener Kueche" (Viennese cuisine) at very affordable prices. There are lunch specials with dessert, at even lower prices. The atmosphere is candle-lit, with wooden beams, evoking an earlier century. There is also an outdoor garden-like dining area in the small, pedestrian street (rather like a courtyard) just before descending into the... More

We came across this place by accident on our recent trip to Vienna - escaping out of the rain on a wet weekend! The atmosphere is amazing and the place is huge - loads of nooks and crannies all tucked under a beautiful vaulted cellar ceiling! On our first visit we simply sampled the beer and wine, but came back... More

We came here because of the advertised specials. However after sitting down outside we were told they apply only if we sit inside. It was too stuffy though. The food prices are above average and the food is mediocre. Come here only if you must.

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
