Not impressive hamburger

We've had a lunch with my parents while in Vienna at this place. The service was also good, as for the pancake soup (yep, there were real pancakes in it!) and the wien schnitzel. But as for the Esterhazy-burger... If I have to rate it on a 5 star rate, I'd give 1. Maximum 2. The meat was... read more

Great place. Full of locals having dinner. The waitress was a good laugh and explained all the menu to us. She served us quickly and efficiently. The food is basic Austrian style at a fair price. The wine and beer went down well, too. Entertaining evening dinner.

Esterhazykeller, was a restaurant that we found accidentally when we were looking for food after shopping near Stephansplatz. The space is great and atmospheric. The main big room is downstairs. The food and drinks are good nothing special) but cheap. It has special rooms for smoking while sitting on table. A very good choice.

ESTERHAZYKELLER is a fantastic setting to enjoy classic Austrian cuisine or just go to enjoy some lovely local beer's in a great setting. Not sure if this is the keller, as our tables were at ground floor.... From the outside looked like a very nice and cosy old traditional cellar restaurant, but very soon, as soon as you step in, it became apparent that it was a cheap place to eat, where the staff is completely bored. The interior was extremely basic. We... More

Esterhazy Keller is a Vienna institution and should be a must go destination when in this beautiful city.Esterhazy Keller is an ancient wine tavern (Heuriger) located under the Esterhazy Palace it has a warren of cozy ancient rooms located in the cellar's and has been in business since 1683.Very atmospheric down here with it's brick arched walls and ceilings with... We arrived at the restaurant on a Saturday evening, no one was at the reception to greet us. After wandering in the main dining hall we stumbled upon a waiter and asked for a table, without even looking at us he said "we might have a free table at the end on the right, go check". Since we were hungry... More

My friends and I arrived at Esterhazykeller at about 8:00pm. Unfortunately there was nowhere to sit in the cellar, so we went upstairs to the restaurant. To be perfectly honest the cellar itself was so warm and smoky that I was glad that there wasn't room. In any case, both my wife and I went for the Schnitzel Wiener Art... More

We had a student group of 11 with 5 adults. The traditional Viennese food of wienerschnitzel, roast potatoes, fried vegetables, potato salad and green salad were served family style. The food was hot, and delicious. The dessert was a variety of topfen strudel, apfelstrudel, and sachet torte. All great.

We happened upon this restaurant while walking in Vienna and we glad we did. The cellars were once the hiding place of Prince Esterhazn’s wine and the dome shaped rooms extend down 5 or 6 stories below ground. They cannot all be used in the restaurant because of fire codes but it was fun imagining what it was like in... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
