We were pleasantly surprised to find this restaurant, even though a bit tucked away around the corner. I believe it is a brewery and speciality food boutique restaurant that it well known in this area since it seemed popular and had a terrific atmosphere. There seems to be a Best Western Hotel around the corner that has its own restaurant... More

Went there because of the very good reviews. I had the Tafelspitz because several reviewers wrote that you HAVE to try it. I did not find it any better than elsewhere. Food overall is good, service is good, but not outstanding.

Every time at the Lake of Constance we invite some friends to the goldener Hirschen to eat some original Tafelspitz! If you go there every 6 month you realize that the portions are getting smaller and smaller every time! Something must have been wrong as most of us eating the soup ended up on the toilet..(all night)...:-( The service is... More

Excellent Austrian cuisine and reasonably priced. Lovely decor and friendly waiter service. Central position in town.

Same waiters as the Weissen Kreuz, more family oriented but same great service. Food is typical Austrian farmers food: tasty, plentiful and heavy! If you go during the Festspiele, you need to book at least 24 hours before!

We have been coming to this place for years. They always served us promptly one of their famous Elefantenohr, a giant size (or sometimes three smaller) Wiener Schnitzel. Very simple food, but very tasty. Parking is a bit of a problem, but the walk there is worth it. No reservation necessary: ample seating available.

We ate here without reservation on a weekday, at 17:00. We were paying 89 € for 4 adults, 3 kids. Tafelspitz was simply outstanding. Go there and try it out! You will not stay hungry, portions were great!

This place is kind of a funny mix. The waitress we asked for a table was really kind, our main waiter as well. The waitress that served the food was kind of very little interested in her customers. Food is local Gasthaus style- hence some convenience stuff and some fresh cooked. But for these prices.... very much ok! On a... More

My second visit, same great service , food as great as last time! Next time at the Lake of Constance I'm going to make a plan to visit the "goldener Hirsch" again... Looking ready forward to the marillen knödel. Keep up the good work!

I very much enjoyed the ambiance of Goldener Hirschen, the staff was friendly. The food was very well presented (particularly the goat cheese appetizer) and delicious, with the portions more on the large side, the red wine was served in nice big glasses. A very enjoyable evening.
