Best Vegetarian Food in Europe (so far)

I love this place. We went there the first time many years ago when it wasn't vegetarian at all. So I was able to witness the transformation into one of Europe's best vegetarian restaurants in just a few years. I really like their easy going approach paired with a curiosity and professionalism. 7 courses, serviced with specially selected wines, include a white wine, made from red grapes. Each dish was brought out with a detailed introduction and each surprised us with its creativity. Kiwi fruits with Leaks, Olive Gnocchi to name a couple. At the end of the evening, the Chef introduced himself and asked how our evening went which was a... More

Our trip to Innsbruck was lovely enough, and then we discovered Chez Nico and I almost don't want to write a review because I want to keep this beauty all for myself. It is hard to describe the experience of this genius' creations as there is only this memory of beetroot and blackberries presented and tasting like nothing before and... More

I booked this place because my boyfriend has recently become vegetarian and did not realize at the time the awards and acclaim Chez Nico has received. It's well-deserved acclaim. Chez Nico is small and does only one seating a night, so you have to reserve a table. I saw many a sad soul turned away. There was one chef and... More

So first opinions on the restaurant, small, quite bright and definitely not your typical fine dining restaurant. Especially since you have just 1 waitress and 1 chef for the whole restaurant. I assume in the summer when they can seat outside then staff would be increased. The waitress was really friendly, knowledgeable about every dish and had to repeat many... More

Don't think "vegetables;" think creative, artistic gourmet food without meat. This restaurant gives "vegetarian" cuisine a whole new meaning. Each offering in the seven course fixed prix menu is a delight for the both the eyes and the pallet, with creations so original and unique that they defy explanation. And, the wine pairing is top notch.

A dinner at Chez Nico is one of the best dinning experiences I have had in my life. The food is fantastic, original and very flavorful. The waiter describes each dish in detail, comes by at the end of each course to ask "are you satisfied?" I can't imagine anyone saying no. The wine pairing is also very well done... More

We always go somewhere special for special events and Chez Nico was delightful. We booked via email with a quick and courteous reply. We turned up and were treated as special guests (as were all the diners). The food was creative, fresh from their fields, with thoughtfully contrasting flavors and textures. It was exquisitely presented. Our host described each dish... More

We have been hearing about Chez Nico for several years from relatives who travel here every year on business. While traveling from Linz to France, we broke our trip in Innsbruck for two days just so we could eat here. It is like no other restaurant we have encountered in decades of travel around the world . The food is... More
