Several different experiences to be had here

Make sure you know which one you're in for! There is the dining and music-in-costume experience which must be booked at set times, and then there is dining in the somewhat kitsch but traditional dark wood panelled restaurant downstairs, where huge flower arrangements dominate the dining rooms. This is the oldest restaurant in Europe ! Since 803 and never closed for a day! Imagine that it was opened more than 1200 years ago.. I thought the food or the atmosphere would be dull or something.. It wasn't at all! Very friendly staff and the decor was amazing with a very delicious food! It's a must if your... More

I brought my family to get the classical music experience. The program was just right to get a feel. The musicians and opera performers were engaging and good. The food is bad and the wine pricey. Definitely a tourist trap.

Restaurants with the distinction of age and tradition can sometimes remain bound to classic dishes, rather than open to fresh interpretations. However, here in Europe's oldest restaurant, whose founding can be traced to the early 800s, around the time of Charlemagne, the food remains fresh and seasonal. I had a delicious and quite fresh chicken dish. The Zweigelt was a... More

Oldest restaurant in the world with incredible ambience, brilliant service, excellent service and the most amazing wines! We absolutely loved the lunch, from the food and wine to the service we received. Expensive but absolutely worth it. Highly recommended.

We ate dinner at the restaurant with friends when in Salzburg for the festival (not the option of dinner and music - we wanted a quiet restaurant experience). I had booked months in advance to ensure a table and we were offered a choice of indoor or outdoor eating; we choose to eat at the table selected for us in... More

Our traveling group choose this restaurant based on the suggestion of our hotel, and the fact that they say Mozart ate here. At first we were slightly intimidated by the fact that the staff was way better dressed than we were, but once we seated these worries went away. The service was superb and the food was absolutely delicious. The... More

Fantastic food in a brilliant location. Great value for money for this brilliant restaurant. Very atmospheric when having dinner whilst the bells ring from St Peters church

We went to the Mozart Dinner here. The opera arias were wonderful and the chamber music delightful. How can you experience Salzburg without some Mozart? However - the food was average, the drinks expensive, and the service a little snooty. On a good note, we met some people sitting at our table from Austria that were delightful. So nice to... More

It's expensive, very tasteful and with superb service that compliments the overall ambience. It's also perhaps the oldest restaurant in Europe. The food is not the best I have had though full marks for some novel experimentations by the chef. But for the overall experience, it was an evening very well spent!
