The ticket guy at the Salzburg museum recommended this locals place and we were very happy he did. We got the trout lunch special that was first class, and a traditional Austrian dish with meat and potatoes. They make their own beer which was really good, and the atmosphere was very upbeat and friendly.

Really relaxing lunch with terrific mushroom goulash and dumpling and excellent Kasier beer on tap. A little smokey though in the bar, so I suggest you sit outside on a nice sunny day or get a table as far away from the bar as possible.

We have had lunch at Zwettler's and truely enjoyed the authentic austrian food (wiener pork schnitzel, white sausages and pretzels...) in a very cosy and calm atmosphere. The restaurant has both a smoking and a non-smoking area. The beer they offer (Kaiser Karl) is good too (but for beer lovers, we liked the Stiegel more). Later we ate their desert... More

Great place right in old town. Wonderful food, service, and beer. This was a fun, friendly restaurant where we were the only customers that weren't locals. The pork schnitzel is very good.

Yes, you have to walk through a smoky front bar area, but the back is a really charming, traditional Austrian pub-type environment. The service was super friendly and efficient. All food was delicious and the prices were reasonable. Clearly a favorite of locals, for families, business dinners, dates, and watching the football match. We were very pleased with the food,... We loved eating at Zwetler's so much we went twice. The braised beef was so good my husband said he felt like licking the plate! We would recommend the weissbeer and Nuss schnapps made with hazelnuts. Authentically old, great atmosphere and charming staff!

Wanted an authentic Wiener Schnitzel and the hotel suggested this place. Was put off a little by walking through a smoky bar area into a smoke-free restaurant – phew! Very cosy and charming. I think we were the only non Austrian/Germans in the place which made it all feel very real and local. Food is simple, but good. Reasonable choice... More

It would be very good food experience if you like Austrian kitchen. But it is not so reach menu in this restaurant. It is extremely popular place in the old town of Salzburg. I recommend it just to feel the real Austrian atmosphere. It was not expansive but I tasted everything I want from the menu during my first visit.... More

Zwettler's was just around the corner from our hotel. We wondered by while looking for a place to have dinner. It looked pretty good from the street so we entered and found a warm and inviting place with plenty of ambiance. The food here is first rate. Everyone at our table loved what they ordered and the presentation on our... More
