Old fashioned cafe

The place is rather oldfashioned style, but they serve very decent cafe and good cakes in the centre of Salzburg. Perfect service, the interior is not my style, at all.

Very attentive service, tasty traditional Austrian cakes and one justifiedly legendary Kardinalschnitt. Only good memories with this place and the events around my visits there.

Nice and comfortable place, however not very polite service. In addition wrong bill with higher price ( wrong coffe and water included but not part of my order). Choose another one if you can.

Stopped in here on our way back to our accommodation and had a pretty mediocre experience. First lady who served us was pretty impatient and gruff (maybe b/c a huge tour group entered right behind us) but the other two ladies were nice. As for the desserts -- average, at best. Banana chocolate cake was nice-ish, a bit sweet, but... More

Don't come here if you dislike pink or any degree of fussiness, because the Niemetz has both in spades. It has red-and-gilt chairs, pink marbled pillars, mirrors everywhere and even fake organ pipes(!) but also friendly, smiling service, good coffee and a range of the usual Austrian cakes. We enjoyed the theatricality of it all and the quietness after the... More

A beautiful quiet café and a Salzburg institution. Lovely toasties, soup, very nice cakes, coffee and chocolate. Missed by the tourists as it's tucked down a side street off the old town close to the Siegmundstor tunnel. Great for couples or even a small business meeting.

We ate here several times over the 3 days we were in Saltzburg as it was en route to our hotel. We had two good lunches and twice had tea and cake. They had a good selection of coffees/teas and the gateaux were wonderful which made it difficult to select the one you wanted. Thoroughly recommend.

I do not think it is the best place for young people or people with noisy children. Mainly for older couples or romantic your couples. Waiter was very polite and helpful. A little expensive (but that is Austria). The quality of the sweets/pastries is excellent.

It is really an institution, attended by the best singers and musicians from the festival. Large selection of traditional Austrian pastries and coffee house. Top quality in Salzburg.
