The Bärenwirt, located in the historic district Mülln, is one of the oldest inns in Salzburg. Hospitality plays an important role since 1663 and the traditional inn is run with a lot of personal commitment. At the Bärenwirt you enjoy traditional Austrian specialities and beer of the Augustiner Bräu, the oldest brewery of Salzburg. We recommend our fried chicken, which is known as the best one of Austria. The sunny terrace with view onto the river Salzach and the Kapuzinerberg, one of the two hills in the center of Salzburg, and the cozy guest rooms invite you to spend a relaxing and pleasurably time at the Bärenwirt. If you are planning a festivity with your family and friends the Bärenwirt provides the right offer. The package is called “Feiere dein Fest” and includes roast pork with dumpling and „sauerkraut“ and beer, which is drawn by yourself.

Fresh and tasty

We walked a while to get there but it was worth it. The greens were fresh, dressing was perfect and the food was delicious. It was in the afternoon so we had the short menu, next time we'll try the full menu.

My family and I walked 24 minutes to get to this restaurant and it was worth it. We did not have a reservation and walked in at 5pm. We told the person in charge of reservations that we walked 24 min to get there because of all the great reviews on trip advisor. He was kind enough to seat us... More

We ate the best snitzel in the world . It is absolutely fantastic. Try the Augultiner beer, is made in Salzburg since 1621!

My family and I went there for Christmas dinner on the 25th. We made reservations a month in advanced and glad we did. Their menu and servings were huge and delicious!. Pork dumpling was amazing as well as their beer soup! Price was also reasonable. Service was excellent. Highly recommended but don't forget to make reservations!

We booked this restaurant for a New Year's Eve celebration dinner and we were not disappointed. The schnitzel and goulash followed by berry strudel were excellent. Roland and his team were great hosts.

My husband and I visited here for lunch and were not disappointed. The service was very friendly and the recommendations for lunch were great. A super traditional pub which we will return to if we ever go back to Salzburg.

You can see its advertising back to a cab: "fine and traditional kitchen" (in German of course). All true. First to know: Warmly recommended the reservation! The first time we came here it was full, hence I booked for the next lunch. I took the Bauershmaus: a mix of roasted swine meats with a giant knodel, potatoes and white krautsalat... More

Barenwirt is a Salzburg institution, known for its schnitzel and warm atmosphere. I had the veal version with great potatoes and excellent home made cranberry sauce. Wood-panelled, dark and cozy, it has friendly, albeit overworked, staff and was a very nice lunch break on a chilly day.

Just a short walk from the centre of the old town, this place is a hidden treasure. Very warm environment, staff very friendly, and food full of flavour. Not much more I can say other than our plates were clean at the end of our meal!

One of the local pubs recommended this place to us on our first night. It serves traditional Austrian food - having no clue what to expect, we thought we'd give it a go. Started with soup - potato for my husband, goulash for me - both creamy, filling and delicious. Main courses of chicken - 5 breadcrumbed pieces, including the... More
