Description: The Bärenwirt, located in the historic district Mülln, is one of the oldest inns in Salzburg. Hospitality plays an important role since 1663 and the traditional inn is run with a lot of personal commitment. At the Bärenwirt you enjoy traditional Austrian specialities and beer of the Augustiner Bräu, the oldest brewery of Salzburg. We recommend our fried chicken, which is known as the best one of Austria. The sunny terrace with view onto the river Salzach and the Kapuzinerberg, one of the two hills in the center of Salzburg, and the cozy guest rooms invite you to spend a relaxing and pleasurably time at the Bärenwirt. If you are planning a festivity with your family and friends the Bärenwirt provides the right offer. The package is called “Feiere dein Fest” and includes roast pork with dumpling and „sauerkraut“ and beer, which is drawn by yourself.

We stayed in Salzburg for several days and tried several Bavarian restaurants. This was by far the best. My wife raved about the pork, while I thoroughly enjoyed the pancake soup. The price was right, too. Only downside is the limited beer selection. They have exactly one beer, from the monastery down the street. It wasn't my favorite, but fans... More

We went here in October after walking by this restaurant earlier in the week. We dined on pumpkin soup, a meat platter, schweinschnitzel and German chocolate cake. YUM!! This may have been the best schnitzel I had on my 10 day trip though Germany and Austria. Our waitress spoke perfect English and was extremely friendly. The mean ended with a... More

We walked a little bit from the city centre - but it was well worth it! Delicious food with a nice, cosy, busy atmosphere. We went with no reservation however, the lovely host found us a table. Food quality and portion size was great we ordered the pork medallions with pepper sauce and the mixed meat platter. The bear size... More

Off the tourist path but easy walk from old town along river walk. Fantastic service, excellent soups both pumpkin and goulash. Our main entree was roast pork with sauerkrait and it was great, would go back again. Very casual.

Not much to say really, the schnitzels are amazing, the beer is fairly good (it goes very well with the schnitzel), and the service is great. On the night we went, there was only 1 waiter servicing our area of tables. He was running around non-stop, but everyone got served quickly and efficiently. Our meals were served incredibly fast. From... More

We tried this place on the advice of tripadvisor community. We had their famous fried chicken and vegetable soup. However, food was not that great. May be we were expecting more or it was not our kind of food.

My and wife been there during our honeymoon. We both had a wiener schnitzel with potatoes, delicious! My wife had a pumpkin creme soup which was faboulus. The service was fast, we were lucky to have a table w/o a reservation. They have a local Austrian beer from tap which is made by the monastery nearby (Augustiner). Highly recommended for... More

From my point of view the food quality and the service quality are the two most important components for every restaurant. The food in this place is really good, meat was delicious. But waiters are haughty, and corporative policy of this place is strange for me. For example, they have asked to pay for a "permission" to take a piece... More
