The Bärenwirt, located in the historic district Mülln, is one of the oldest inns in Salzburg. Hospitality plays an important role since 1663 and the traditional inn is run with a lot of personal commitment. At the Bärenwirt you enjoy traditional Austrian specialities and beer of the Augustiner Bräu, the oldest brewery of Salzburg. We recommend our fried chicken, which is known as the best one of Austria. The sunny terrace with view onto the river Salzach and the Kapuzinerberg, one of the two hills in the center of Salzburg, and the cozy guest rooms invite you to spend a relaxing and pleasurably time at the Bärenwirt. If you are planning a festivity with your family and friends the Bärenwirt provides the right offer. The package is called “Feiere dein Fest” and includes roast pork with dumpling and „sauerkraut“ and beer, which is drawn by yourself.

A very fun, very Austrian place to eat!

We had a great time here & the food was great too! I had the kasnocken, which the waiter warned had a funky cheese smell, but I thought it was delicious. The best I've had so far--I'd definitely recommend it. My husband had the wiener schnitzel & loved it. The rest of our table enjoyed their meals... read more

Its a little off the beaten path but the food and atmosphere make it worth the hike. We ordered the large goulash and schnizel and were able to feed our family of three. That with a beer and fruit drink came to 31 euros. The staff all spoke good english and were great with our 2 year old. They actually... More

Despite this place getting good reviews, I wasn't aware of it until I strolled passed by accident recently. It gets very busy but they seated us on the terrace straight away with no reservation. Great food and attentive service.

Away from the high tourist prices of the Old Town, this restaurant offers a variety of Traditional Austrian food and some more recent additions -- including their famous fried chicken. Which is fantastic. Definitely recommend a visit here if you like to get away from the tour groups and tchotchke shoppers. Walk along the river after dinner for amazing views... More

On a cool day is was a great place to stop for the local beer and goulash. It was very good... Some of the best. Know, bread costs more and butter costs more. :)

Excellent, traditional cuisine. Where the locals go. Superb soups and pork dishes. Go hungry! We ordered roast pork for two and couldn't finish it. Walk back through the Monch Park overlooking the city.
