Nice dinner with lovely atmosphere

Had dinner and drinks in the courtyard, service was prompt and friendly. I had the veal wiener schnitzel and my partner had salmon with chanterelles risotto, both were delicious with fresh ingredients used. The apple strudel afterwards was also lovely. Prices were reasonable by Salzburg standards... read more

Prices were reasonable by Salzburg standards. Would recommend getting a seat in the courtyard or outside the main entrance.

We choose Alter Fuchs after reading the reviews on Trip Adviser & our Hotel recommendation. We wanted to sit outside but, it was full so after reading about the inner courtyard we checked it out. What a find outdoors within the restaurant surrounded by tall trees. Large canopy umbrellas brilliant, as we has a strong thunderstorm caused by the heat... More

If you can enjoy to have your diner outside do it, inside there is no air and it's very crowded and not very conformable. The food is supposed to be typically Austrian. Honestly this is a restaurant for tourists, you won't taste some real Austrian food. It clearly didn't meet my expectations, the goulash was really average, but the apple... More

After reading many of the good reviews of this establishment, I was really looking forward to eating here, but unfortunately I can only give this place an average rating. The service was good, the beer was good, and the prices were good -- but my meal of beef goulash was average, I guess, and I would not order it again... More

Yes, this is a very busy place due to its convenient location. However, we still found it to be worth the wait. Amidst the loudness and crowd we still felt welcomed and really enjoyed our meal there. The portions were generous and the food was classic and tasty.

No one came to meet us at the door, but after a few minutes of looking for a table for 6, we asked a waitress who showed us to a private table in the back somewhere. It was too hot, but the food was good, the waitress spoke English when needed.

The sported grilled meat (pork, chicken and veal) on my plate never reached the grill and tasted the same in a dry and wiry sort of way. The meat was accompanied by a bountiful of small carrots, that had just left their can, and a few blossoms of what appeared to be boiled cauliflower and broccoli. The chef stroke luck... More

We went to this restaurant based on TA reviews and it was close to our hotel, I am certainly glad we went. They did not have much seating outside, so we went inside and found a open courtyard in the center of the restaurant. The food was excellent and the service was good. The only negative is my wife order... More

This restaurant is on one of the main tourist routes from the new part of the city to the old part of the city. However, I cannot say that it was over touristy. In fact, the early evening we were there, there were a number of local's eating and having a beer in the business, just as we were. You... More

I had the cold meats and cheeses which was lovely and my wife and daughter both had schnitzel, the food was lovely and very filling and reasonably priced and it's situated in a lovely pedestrian area
