The Alt Salzburg is situated within the old town and is a traditional Austrian restaurant. Our table for 6 was booked by the Salzburg tourist board and we had an advent menu, which was excellent. The extensive wine list is predominantly of the region. The service is faultless, polite and informative. Altogether, a very pleasant dining experience in comfortable surroundings.

This restaurant was recommended to us by our Hotel concierge, and we intended to book a table for our last night. Instead we stumbled across it while searching for a nice spot so went in. We received a most warm welcome, and were immediately shown to a table. The food served is very much local dishes, with a few other... More

Alt Salzburg was recommended by our hotel. We walked in without a reservation on a Friday night, but we were graciously greeted and seated. We overheard our waiter turning away people who came in just for a drink, telling them that this is an "Austrian Dining Restaurant," and we couldn't agree more! It was a delicious meal of authentic Austrian... More

Recommended to come here by our hotel. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal - lovely homely atmosphere , felt like you were having a meal at someone's home in a very good way. Nicely priced quality food delivered with a smile by a very friendly waiter.

Lovely, cool and quiet spot, not easy to find but worth it. My husband and I enjoyed a homecooked meal here (freshly steamed but still crisp broccoli after a much meat-based tour of Austria) that while not 4 star gourmet fare, tasted wonderful and was graciously presented. It felt like you were at someone's home, getting a warm, healthy and... More

From the moment you enter this delightful 'chintzy, restaurant, you're welcomed by the warm staff. We were seated at a window table and felt as if we were in somebody's front room! The waiter was amazing, one of the best, who knew your needs before you did! Dressed in a black DJ with a dickie bow tie, he was the... More

Close to the face that overlooks the old town, this charming restaurant has a cosy dining room, elegant and comfortable. The service is courteous and professional. Good the wines by the glass, mostly the gruner veltliner and a blend of gruner veltliner, chardonnay and muskateller. Fairly good the food (asparagus au gratin tasteless, lamb loin not exciting, excellent the crème... More

Salzburg is a great city and an authentic Austrian meal is only appropriate. The restaurant is very old school/traditional which is part of the experience. The service was great and did not have any issues on the delay as others have reported. The food was great. The starters of soup and trout were light and tasty. The main courses were... More

We booked a party of 10 and had a large room to ourselves, which made it quite a reserved atmosphere. The waiter/maitre d was very pleasant and obliging, the food was average/good and seemed to take a very long time.

The restaurant is very cozy and homey. Very old world charm. Food was ok but pricey for what you get. Service was attentive but not intrusive.
