Our dinner at Paul Stube was very tasty. I had roast pork with a big knödel and cabbage. My dining partner, the lovely Alisa, had gröstl (fried potatoes, onions, bacon... what's not to like?!) with cabbage. The pork had the nice, crackling chicharon-style rind that we don't often (ever?) get at home. The accompanying bier und wein went well with... More

You can find this small restaurant in the streets to the castle, The place does not look like a resturantm, it is more like a pub. Yes indeed the Austrian beer is excellent. We also had a good plate of veal with potatoes. Good tasty and overall €74 for 3 people was a bargain. so I would definetly suggest it

It was located at the place you would usually not go to, but since I was hankering for something local as advised by Hotel Weisse Taube, we tried it out. That was really a great experience as most customers were Austrian ~ a good sign. Since the place was full, we settled for the bar. It's recommendable to call first... More

Came to Paul Stube on a recommendation from Hotel Weisse Taube. Getting here is a bit difficult as it is tucked away & even some locals were not familiar with it when we stopped for help. When you arrive it is a bit odd that the restaurant is on the second floor but don't let that discourage you, the food... More

Very nice atmosphere (old stuff, wood), and good local food, however I am not a big fan of the smoking area just next door but it is like this everywhere in Austria. Just a minus, we arrived at 9 PM in October and there was almost nothing to eat, just the choice between two dishes.

Had such a good time ended up going two nights in a row. My friend had the deer stew, said it was the best meal she has had in Austria so far. Highly recommend.

It was vey quiet the night we went to this restaurant, so we were able to pretty much select our seat. We ate out in the garden right under the fortress wall. The garden is decorated with colored strung lights and umbrellas.our food was local cuisine and ample servings. I see why people say you can share. I had the... More

We arrived at this restaurant without a reservation around 7pm which was perfect timing since we got the last table and everyone who came in after us had to sit at the bar until that filled up and then people were turned away. I would suggest either having a reservation or showing up early. The food was outstanding. We started... More

Got this recommendation from our hosts at Hotel Weisse Taube and they were spot on. This is a great way to experience Salzburg with traditional food and great beers (and wine.) We were there in early September and were fortunate enough to be able to sit outside on the "patio" sitting above Salzburg. Make sure you get a reservation and... More
