The "Sternbrau" is located right in the middle of the Old City of Salzburg, next to the world-famous Getreidegasse and Mozart's birthplace. Since 1542, the "Sternbrau" step by step has become the biggest and most popular traditional beer inn of Salzburg. Since October of 2014, the whole restaurant complex is fully renovated and now offers an outstanding variety of eleven halls and parlours with a unique mixture of tradition and modernity. We serve typical Austrian cuisine with a modern twist, our home-brewed unfiltered beer and our own Austrian red and white wine.

Good choice for group lunch

Our river cruise group stopped here for lunch and it proved to be a great choice. Outside of it being very hot due to 100 degree heat and no air conditioning, the food was excellent and very large portions. It was centrally located and the provided a nice break from touring.

The food and service was excellent. The Draft Beer the best I have ever tasted. Shocked at some of bad ratings due to service. I had Lamb and Wife had Pork. Tasty and tender. Food presentation excellent, the food was out of this world

Had arrived in Salzburg that afternoon and been wandering around the Old Town. Wanted to eat outside and came across this place as tummies starting to rumble. It was busy but we found a table and really enjoyed our evening. Good beer and standard menu for this type of establishment. Service was fine, especially considering how busy it was, and... More

Ok, so maybe the service was 100% attentive, but they are a busy place, and you can see why! The food is great, and reasonably priced, and the staff are well informed to help you should you need it. My friend and I had 2 meals here, dinner and lunch, on separate days. NB: Beware of the secret lunch prezel... More

We went to The Sound of Salzburg Dinner and Show on 13th June 2015. The show was great but the Traditional Austrian Meal that went with it was the worst we had ever experienced. The beef consomme with pancake strips was little more than dishwater, the chicken schnitzel and noodles was tasteless and inedible, and the vegetarian option was two... More

We came to this place visiting the Old Town and had been travelling the whole day looking for a restaurant and found this place. The exterior looked promising but the restaurant is packed, way too crowded for anyone to give a damn about you. When the waiter came, she gave us a menu without allergies listed WHICH IS BY THE... Right in the middle of downtown but serving up delicious Salzburg food, we really enjoyed our two visits to this beergarden. The service was friendly enough but not particularly attentive, but it was very hot and crowded, so I am going to give her a pass. The food was yummy, and the laidback atmosphere was great for a hectic day... More

The simple, small eaters and non-drinkers that we are, we enjoyed the tasty pizza and 2 salads, washed down with the cool, refreshing & like even sweet alpine water of Salzburg. Friendly service from our waiter in the tented area of the open courtyard, together with the service staff who attended to us when we got the Sound of Salzburg... More
