The "Sternbrau" is located right in the middle of the Old City of Salzburg, next to the world-famous Getreidegasse and Mozart's birthplace. Since 1542, the "Sternbrau" step by step has become the biggest and most popular traditional beer inn of Salzburg. Since October of 2014, the whole restaurant complex is fully renovated and now offers an outstanding variety of eleven halls and parlours with a unique mixture of tradition and modernity. We serve typical Austrian cuisine with a modern twist, our home-brewed unfiltered beer and our own Austrian red and white wine.

A classic....modenized

Been here over decades. It was a classic then and still is now. Downstairs still the original dining hall, upstairs a new galleria with big windows, lots of light, modern a kid corner with table soccer, air slammers and others. Perfect to keep your kids busy while you taste the original beers, the... read more

Had a turkey Wiener Schnitzel with potatoes, which tasted amazing! The atmosphere is really nice and I appreciated there being a non smoking part of the restaurant. The toilets are also worth having a look at ;) gorgeous restaurant, if a little on the pricey side.

Appalling service at this restaurant AVOID SOUNDS OF SALZBERG SHOW. We had booked the Sounds of Salzberg dinner show on line at this restaurant. We checked out on line that this was a reliable restaurant. We arrived and without notice, the show had been cancelled and we were not informed. On arrival at the restaurant, the Manager was abrupt and... More

It was a beautiful sunny afternoon in March when we stumbled upon this little brewery with a cute outside seating area. At first glance it all seemed to fit... Until the waiters entered the stage. Unfriendly , unprepared, unprofessional ... In short horrible service. We waited an approximate of 15 minutes for our first order to be taken. When we... More

This place is huge and I only realized it before leaving when I took a trip to the toilets. Different room different ambience. The staff was attentive and friendly and both food and drinks great. There is an amazing garden so it must be wonderful in summer time.

We were on a ski trip to bad Hofgastein. The skiing was sub-par, so we decided to take a day train trip to Salzburg with 7 of our ski club friends. One friend, a native of Austria and frequent traveler to Salzburg, guided us to Sternbrau. Newly renovated, but with an old world ambiance and decor. Just perfect. And so... More

Sternbräu used to be a quite stodgy, stifling labyrinth of old rooms connected to one another, serving up some pretty uninspired Austrian stodge. Since their multi million € refit it is unrecognisable. The place now feels cool, sophisticated and has the air of a very upmarket designer ski place about it. They've kept the Austrian flavour, but it's sharp looking... More

Read some views on here for this restaurant, we were a party of 7 all fussy but it was a brilliant place. The waiting staff are amazing - carrying heavy trays and not spilling a drop. Our party had the house speciality - Sternbier! Excellent food and beers. Nice option to eat while expending a day in old town. Good... More

We wanted a good lunch and we got it here! The spinach dumplings were wonderful, we only had just over an hour and our guide suggested this and to tell them we were with a group and had to get back. My husband had the pikeperch fish. He thought it was great also. Also the strudel was very good, and... More

Walked in with the family, starving just after 2:00 on a rainy day in Salzburg. Happy to hear they still served lunch. We were escorted into a classic teutonic Brauhaus bar, clean, well laid-out and smoke free. The waiter was immediately there to greet us, replacing the table cloth with a clean one and taking our drink orders. Johannisbeer gesprtizt... More
