The "Sternbrau" is located right in the middle of the Old City of Salzburg, next to the world-famous Getreidegasse and Mozart's birthplace. Since 1542, the "Sternbrau" step by step has become the biggest and most popular traditional beer inn of Salzburg. Since October of 2014, the whole restaurant complex is fully renovated and now offers an outstanding variety of eleven halls and parlours with a unique mixture of tradition and modernity. We serve typical Austrian cuisine with a modern twist, our home-brewed unfiltered beer and our own Austrian red and white wine.

Great lunch, not-so-great dinner

The simple, small eaters and non-drinkers that we are, we enjoyed the tasty pizza and 2 salads, washed down with the cool, refreshing & like even sweet alpine water of Salzburg. Friendly service from our waiter in the tented area of the open courtyard, together with the service staff who attended... read more

We came to this place visiting the Old Town and had been travelling the whole day looking for a restaurant and found this place. The exterior looked promising but the restaurant is packed, way too crowded for anyone to give a damn about you. When the waiter came, she gave us a menu without allergies listed WHICH IS BY THE... Right in the middle of downtown but serving up delicious Salzburg food, we really enjoyed our two visits to this beergarden. The service was friendly enough but not particularly attentive, but it was very hot and crowded, so I am going to give her a pass. The food was yummy, and the laidback atmosphere was great for a hectic day... More

Sat under the arcade in the garden in the center. Good typical meal, filling, everyone enjoyed it. Summer beer was very good, kinda citrusy. Peter King would love it. Waitress spoke impeccable English, and menu was in English. Table of 4 beautiful women next to us was also fun to watch.

We stumbled into this place, but were very glad we did. Both of us wanted to try something authentic to the area, and this place provided us with that opportunity. We had to wait a bit for our waitress, but that's just because she was SO busy. She was polite and accommodating.

We dined here on July 12 which was a Sunday. The ambiance was very pleasant, service was prompt, polite, discreet, elegant, în a word, professional. Food taste and presentation were above expectation, which were quite high being a Sunday. While you would expect the dumplings to melt in your mouth, which they were, the unexpected came from the beef boiled... More

We wanted to try some traditional Austrian food during our stay in Salzburg and came across this lovely restaurant in the city. Very traditional decor and building, food was excellent and our waitress was engaging and gave excellent service.

I wanted to eat here as the menu looked good but I simply could not get served. The place is too big for its own good; the staff ignore too many customers. I waited 15 minutes to get served, couldn't, so then left. There was not much else open on a Sunday night so I went back in shortly afterwards... More
