The "Sternbrau" is located right in the middle of the Old City of Salzburg, next to the world-famous Getreidegasse and Mozart's birthplace. Since 1542, the "Sternbrau" step by step has become the biggest and most popular traditional beer inn of Salzburg. Since October of 2014, the whole restaurant complex is fully renovated and now offers an outstanding variety of eleven halls and parlours with a unique mixture of tradition and modernity. We serve typical Austrian cuisine with a modern twist, our home-brewed unfiltered beer and our own Austrian red and white wine.

Excellent service and a reasonable price for good food

The waiter was highly efficient and attentive. The traditional Austrian food was quite good. Desserts were fantastic!

I wanted to eat here as the menu looked good but I simply could not get served. The place is too big for its own good; the staff ignore too many customers. I waited 15 minutes to get served, couldn't, so then left. There was not much else open on a Sunday night so I went back in shortly afterwards... More

My sons and I ate here for lunch and we decided it had the best wiener schnitzel we had on the trip and the best goulash (beef). The service was a little faster and better than most places and our waiter spoke English. It seemed like quite a few locals were eating there. All three of us really liked it.... More

The boiled beef tastes terrific. And the beef broth with liver dumpling is amazing. It's my first try on Austrian dish and I love it! It's also a great value that it only cost me 20 euros with an entrée, soup and beer. Worthwhile.

This seemed to be quite a few restaurants run by the same owner. Lovely place and great food. Had a nice variety and a kids menu. Would recommend.

Great place for a big group. Excellent service, attentive without being pushy, and in no hurry to get you on your way. Usual beergarden fare, but also lighter choices. Plenty of sheltered tables in case of rain, which we had in torrents. Gemütlich.

It was a great place to stumble into from the light rain. We sat in the interior courtyard and had a great meal, great server (Christian) and had great conversation. It wasn't too busy so that was even more of a treat. We really enjoyed the food they served and we topped our dinner off with some Strohrum, a nice... More

Slow service but I think that's Salzburg in general. Lovely meal and friendly service. Bar very modern but the restaurant is proper old school Austria.

Typical Austrian dinner. Big portions, generally good food, however the green beans as a side dish were frozen vegetables which was disappointing.

We had dinner in the large terrace area: the food was decent but nothing special. However, there's nothing to complain about, especially if you're just looking for a classic/normal Austrian/German food and beer.
