The "Sternbrau" is located right in the middle of the Old City of Salzburg, next to the world-famous Getreidegasse and Mozart's birthplace.

Since 1542, the "Sternbrau" step by step has become the biggest and most popular traditional beer inn of Salzburg. Since October of 2014, the whole restaurant complex is fully renovated and now offers an outstanding variety of eleven halls and parlours with a unique mixture of tradition and modernity.

We serve typical Austrian cuisine with a modern twist, our home-brewed unfiltered beer and our own Austrian red and white wine.

Old fashioned Vienna kitchen in modern building

4 restaurants/bars in one building. Located beside a Christmas market offering gluwein etc. Great choice of Austrian specialities - including some local beers. Hard to be a vegetarian though! Hard to say if I would rush back, Austrians like meat and gravy - I don't!

We had a late lunch in almost empty restaurant - may be that is why the waitress did not bother too much of her efforts. Our meals were not more than average. We have got better service and better food in Sternbräu earlier.

We had this spot recommended to us by the gentleman who hosted us in Salzburg. We liked it so much we went back after our first visit for a second dinner later in the trip. The service was good/efficient and the food was excellent, especially the soups. The sausage I had was also excellent and we appreciated that they also... More

We have eaten a Sternbraü numerous times over the years whilst in Salzburg. It is well located close to Getriedegasse and river in the old part of the city. Recently refurbished Sternbraü provides a range of dining experience in a choice of rooms from the tradional to modern contemporary design. This time we were with friends who hadn't been to... More

Just another average place in Old Salzburg. It's a nice building, with a yard I believe. The menu is like all the others you will find in town. Service is a little slow. Food is average. Beers are good, but that's everywhere !

I was a little bit skeptical when I booked this place via internet because of the price of the 4 courses meal. But it was worthy of every single euro we paid. The dinner was amazing and the bierstube was the perfect venue. Our waiter was very welcoming and nice. And their homebrewed beer tastes amazing! I highly reccomend this... More

Ideal for trying the famous Vienna schnitzels Good service Ok priced, we paid under 30 euros for 2 of us but we just came here to try the schnitzel. They made it quite modern with the new construction but actually quite an old place

We entered the Sternbrau asking the host if there was availability and were flippantly told to go search for our own tables upstairs (during a previous visit we had been explicitly asked to enquire with said host). When we went upstairs it was unclear if we could seat ourselves and if we should wait. The waiters steadfastly ignored us -... More
