From the outside at night, this place looked dead, but we went through a series of doors labeled in German only to descend into a basement that was packed with locals eating, singing, and drinking. There were several stations with typical local cuisine and the famous beer. There are several large halls with long benches for shared eating and drinking... More

This is one of these places that you have to visit if you want to say see how true beer hall looks and feels like. It is huge, has numerous beer area and large beer garden. It is also possible to get wide selection of traditional food - mind though that it is not a restaurant, so food will be... More

Most reviews are spot on so no need to provide a narrative. Two things, don't be intimidate/confused by the process to get a beer or food. 1) find seating. 2) approach cashier and pay for the size and number of beers you would like-at this time you could pay extra for table service. 3) Self serve, walk to wall grab... Augustiner Braueri is a large brewery just up from the Aldstat (easily walkable in 10-15 short minutes). We went in and decided to do a "lap" before anything else - recommended to get the lay of the land. The brewery serves beer as you first walk in in half or full liter steins. You grab the stein of your choice,... More

This is a fun place that we found online. You grab a stein of the shelf, rinse it out, pay the lady 3 euro for a beer ticket, hand to the beer man who taps it from a barrel. How cool is that? The hall is filled with locals/regulars who have their own reserved table. They have food available outside... More

This is a place you must visit in Salzburg. An authentic beer hall, where you just grab a mug and they fill it with beer straight from the barrel. When you have emptied it, you can buy a re-fill, clean your mug from a fountain and they fill it up again...and again. There is also a variety of food you... More

Great food selection...almost cafeteria like. Many options including yummy deserts. Beer is excellent of course! Make sure if it's a nice day to sit outside. HUGE outside eating area.

This felt like a very authentic experience. The outdoor beer garden was full of both locals and tourists and was very charming, especially as the sun set and the outdoor lights came on. You can purchase a variety of food from multiple on-site vendors, and there is a selection of soft drinks in addition to the beer. There are three... More

This is an authentic beer hall with locals and tourists alike. There are smoking and nonsmoking rooms (which ones are open vary by the day). Opt for the self serve beer and save the service fee automatically added when you get served at the table. Just grab a mug, rinse it in the fountain provided, pay the cashier and give... More

This place is out of the main part of town (in Mulln). It has a great beer garden where Salzburgers hang out on good days and interesting giant rooms inside the building that are filled when it is cold or raining. Sunny or not, it is a family oriented place. The food is sold in various little stalls along one of... More
