Very nice - different restaurant:

We were wandering the back streets of Graz (actually a bit lost) when we stumbled upon this really neat restaurant. Yes the menu is verbal and yes the wine list is a bit pricy (except the house wine) but there is also beer (from Wieselburg I think). The menu selection was varied and full of choice... read more

Take the evening off. Eat three courses. Take your time. Enjoy the wines. Dinner here can turn into a 6 hour experience. Be sure to book, this place is popular with the post-theatre and opera crowd. Don't expect a written menu. The always friendly and professional waiters and waitresses will describe all that's available for the day. During oyster season... More

Santa Clara has long been an institution in Graz, Austria. The owner puts together a special menu which guests can choose from. A wide range of appetisers are available and can be combined as the guest likes. The service is excellent and the food is first-rate.

Santa Clara came recommended from the tourist office as a place that doesn't cook typically Austrian -- fat and meaty. It's located in an old basement with outside seating as well, and run by a husband-and-wife team. There is no menu. The owner goes to the market, gets fresh ingredients and then determines the menu based on what she could... More

Nice place, but: no menú with dish descripción or prices. Bad entree buffet which is not a real buffet. No price for it Esther. Food is disappointing. Seems they try to be Special but are not

I've eaten here several times and I've always left with a feeling that I'd experienced something special. Whether it's the calm (almost zen-calm!) composure of the staff, the loveliness of the surroundings (a leafy courtyard, an arched chamber, a bustling and hot kitchen area and a serene wine cellar) or the wonderful quality of the food is hard to say.... Restaurant has good rating in Fallstaf so we had high expectations. Most tables in the non smoking area are very small (upon making reservation we had been informed that only small tables were left). Quality of staff is excellent but there is no menu and you have to make your choice based on a relatively extended list of dishes which... More

So, you ask about when you take your mother out for a birthday meal and this place came highly recommended. Oooops. Apart from the warm white wine, apart from the extremely long wait and terse service, apart from my mother being sent back from the buffet because it "wasn't her turn" (after they had brought her a plate), the last... I recently retired after working at Graz University for 18 years in Graz. It was the first restaurant I was taken to and it was the last one I chose to go to when I left, with regular visits in between. I did eat at many other restaurants and some had ups, but always followed by downs. This one is... More

Santa Clara is a first-rate restaurant. The terrace outside and the interior of the restaurant are both charming. And the food and wines are excellent. One of the things the restaurant is known for is the appetizer buffet. This is no ordinary buffet. The buffet offers an excellent selection of home-made and delicate treats: stuffed zucchini rolls, stuffed miniature peppers,... More
