Good option if you are downtown Linz

I would not travel to Linz to have a cake and cup of coffee in the Jindrak Konditorei, but if you happen to be in the center of Linz, this cake shop and cafe is a good option. You can taste the local Linz Cake - The taste might be surprising at the begining, but then you find out the... read more

A linz tourist website recommended the linzer torte here, so we stopped off after visiting the cathedral. I was a bit disappointed. The cakes were wonderful, and coffee ok, but bought the surroundings a bit basic and waitress staff rather unwelcoming. Not worth a special trip, but ok if you're passing. You can buy cakes to takeaway which looked interesting...

We ordered topfen strudel with vanilla sauce and 2 cups of coffee. The coffee came straight away but the strudel took 25 minutes (when all they have to do is reheat it). The people at the table next to us who arrived and ordered after us got their order (which also included strudel with vanilla sauce) about 15 minutes before... More

My first stop after checking in to my hotel. It's the house of the original Linzertorte & this original Jindrak opened in 1929 & is still run by the same family. The original recipe is from1653. The older room downstairs is quaint BUT it's for smokers! The modern room in the front is for nonsmokers. The older upstairs room is... More

I found this cafe by chance, not knowing that they were famous for their Linzer Torte cake. Going by the looks of the cakes and my chocolate craving, I settled for their chocolate mousse cake, and it was very, very good. Unlike the other comments below, there weren't tourists in the cafe. I'm not sure but I might have gone... More

This noble bakery, inventor of the Linzer Torte, has been swallowed by tourists arriving every few minutes by bus. They do make beautiful pastries and desserts, and they have a to-go counter, but perhaps you would be better served patronizing one of their many, many competitors in Linz.

We stopped here on an afternoon and had the linzer torte with cappuccino. The place was not very crowded and service was fine and we really enjoyed eating one of our favorites where it started. We thought it was, as someone reviewed in German said, a good cultural experience. Glad we did it.

I ordered some coffee and a couple jelly doughnuts for my wife and I, and my parents had some cake and torte. The coffee was undrinkable, like the bitter, nasty sludge at the bottom of the Donau. I was aghast. The desserts were only OK, really not very good. Dry. The service was fine as far as Europe goes. She... More

We visited as a group of four on a Sunday. The service was atrocious! One of the cakes never even arrived. And what did arrive was not good at all. The Linzer Torte had very little by way of topping. What's worse was that the apple strudel had the consistency of wallpaper paste. Our waitress was ridiculously inefficient and miserable.... More
