In part of the Kaufmann building with a grand entrance from Landstrasse, it's a huge barn like pub. The main area inside allows smoking. At one side is a small room for nonsmokers that was booked out so I sat outside up one end to avoid smokers. A pleasant area with coloured light balls, heaters & fresh air! It was... More

Josef gets very crowded in the eveneings but has reasoable priced buffet lunch and a god brunch on Sundays and holidays. Part of the garden has covered area which in winter can be closed so in autumn and spring time is still nice. Beer is brewed on the premises and you can sit and eat your food right next to... More

Really great service from the staff. They're attentive and take care of their little guests. The food (tapas) was ok - nothing extraordinary. The location struck me as being the best. From the outside (Landstr.), I just wasn't expecting Josef's to offer the space, a terrace and the separated areas for smokers and non-smokers to eat and drink.

Very posh, with relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. Great food with big variation. Cakes and cookies to dye for.

We went here on the last night of a two week cycling holiday in Czech Republic - whilst I know that Austrian prices are more expensive this was absolutely ridiculous - the beer wasn't even that great compared with Czech beer! Don't go here unless you are a millionaire !

We visited the pub on saturday afternoon, no croud at all. Not all meals from the daily menu were available. We waited for 15 minutes until we got served our soup. The soup was actually prepared in advance, so it took 15 minutes for someone to bring the soup to the table. While we were eating someone threw a big... More

We started our week in Linz by having a long brunch at Josef, a slow graze through the ample buffet. We returned for dinner on Monday and enjoyed another great tasting meal. The attraction of Josefs was all too much so we returned for dinner again on Wednesday, this time our local contact arranged a private room and a thorough... More

The reviews about this place that I read on tripadvisor were true. The service was appalling. We had to ask 3 times for menus. At two separate points during our extremely slow dinner, I looked around the room and every person in it (about 20) had empty glasses. When the waiter would finally come back in, he would be bombarded... More

If you enjoy some beers and a nice dinner with your colleagues after work and if you like to smoke and listen to some music, this is a nice place to go. If you want silence and a romantic athmosphere, go somewhere else. The food is good but not exceptional. Given the prices it is absolutely fair. It is mid-town... More
