Description: With my arrival in the beautiful Island Cyprus many years ago, I carried...
With my arrival in the beautiful Island Cyprus many years ago, I carried with me a dream, to create an authentic and traditional Greek tavern that would focus on the flavours of ingloriously lost homeland of Asia Minor. I started out in difficult years surrounded with dark and desolation affected by the visible effects of the invasion and occupation! Slowly and with much love and hard work my tavern had began to acquire life and took strength from the preference and confidence you had in us. I came up with the name of the tavern after much thought. The idea of a 'commercial' name didn’t inspire me at all so I decided to call it “Kathodon” which means “En Route”. “En Route” to the way of freedom. Kathodon survived, strengthened and progressed throughout the years and is now here after 13 years stronger, filled with love, commitment to tradition and quality that was always our aim. We continue always with respect to our customer-friend! I would like to point out where it says somewhere in our menu, “We do not serve hasty and nervous people”. This means that food is prepared fresh once you have ordered and some extra time may be required. We are sure there is no restaurant in the world that does not sometimes make a mistake and if this happens to us we will make sure that we will do everything in our power to make it up to you in the best possible way. Our promise for the future is to continue enriching our menu with forgotten traditional flavours that will take you on a journey leaving a sweet taste lingering in your mouth.. These are a few words about the history of “Kathodon”, we wish you all “bon appetite” and may you all have a pleasant time.

kathodon is a typical Greek taverna. The food is good as well the portions. The owner was there every time I visit and he runs the place smoothly. We are returning customers, as well as other friends that we know.

You have to try the Meze. Real quality food with great variety. Recipes are out of the ordinary making every dish an unexpected but pleasant surprise. A definite must for anyone visiting Ledras street in Nicosia.

The place is nicely decorated and service was very good. For main courses we had the recommended traditional ones which were available on the day, owen cooked lamb and chicken & mushroom pancake with cream. They were excellent at a very good price. However, starters were good (chese fried balls and eggplant salad), but fish roe were disappointing. Also, I... More

Very good greek food, large and delicious portions...Very good atmosphere, staff are polite and very efficient. They are willing to explain the menu, to recommend the meal of the day and to have a little chat with you as long as you wish... One of the best restaurants in Cyprus.

I really don't understand how this place can be one of the top restaurants in Nicosia. I would classify this restaurant more of a tourist trap, mainly because of its location. Its location is really good, at the end of Ledras str. The food is mediocre (we tried their meze menu) and honestly there is nothing special about it. The... More

Its a family favorite for years and they never let you down. Try the meatballs, the pork chops. Most dishes are great and tasty. They are also fresh and light. Only problem is their chicken souvlaki it always felt dry. If you go on weekends you get live solo singer who also sings quite loudly some nights. but book in... More

Great place for lunch and dinner. Sunday brunch too. Greek food, tasty and tasteful. Friendly and efficient service. Reserve a table well in advance as the restaurant is almost always full.
