The Makenzi area is a very beautiful but also an expensive area especially popular for its Fish Tavernas’. There are some Pizza restaurants in the area which are cheaper but most of the restaurants here have fish. In any case, stay away from Zakos Beach Restaurant. We were treated worse than animals!
My Greek friends were leaving that evening for Athens and they had no alternative but stay where they were brought. I am Cypriot and I was to stay a few more days on the island, so I could have some lunch later on at home. I decided to order nothing seeing what was happening. I just watched.
Even the owners were unfriendly, and they delayed for more than an hour to bring the bad quality of food my friends ordered. The owner and stuff were just walking like robots listening but doing nothing and would not respond to what we were telling them.
The food was not only expensive but awful as well. When the time to pay came all were shocked. Not to mention the filthy toilets. It seems they are cleaned once a day. The coach driver was almost served first...because he brought us there, he was sitting in a separate table next to us, and he was enjoying his huge grilled fish, and salad, while the whole group was complaining!
