STAY AWAY FROM "ZAKOS" MAKENZI AREA The Makenzi area is a very beautiful but also an expensive area especially popular for its Fish Tavernas’. There are some Pizza restaurants in the area which are cheaper but most of the restaurants here have fish. In any case, stay away from Zakos Beach Restaurant. We were treated worse than animals! My Greek friends were leaving that evening for Athens and they had no alternative but stay where they were brought. I am Cypriot and I was to stay a few more days on the island, so I could have some lunch later on at home. I decided to order nothing seeing what was happening. I just watched. Even the owners were unfriendly, and they delayed for more than an hour to bring the bad quality of food my friends ordered. The owner and stuff were just walking like robots listening but doing nothing and would not respond to what we were telling them. The food was not only expensive but awful as well. When the time to pay came all were shocked. Not to mention the filthy toilets. It seems they are cleaned once a day. The coach driver was almost served first...because he brought us there, he was sitting in a separate table next to us, and he was enjoying his huge grilled fish, and salad, while the whole group was complaining!

Zakos is located in the Makenzy beach area of Larnaca, right on the beach next to the old airport. The drive from Nicosia is just over 30 minutes. View is nice, especially in the summer but the frequent low flights of aircraft may be irritating. Decoration is basic Cyprus style maritime restaurant. Music is Greek, mostly old songs. I visited... We ordered our food and after 1:30 hours the only food they managed to bring us was the salad and bread. Only one waitor was actually working and the restaurant was full. They brought our food after we asked them to bring the bill for the salad only. In 5 minutes the three of us we got our food and... More

Zakos restaurant whilst trying to survive within the economic crisis still offers very good quality fish dishes at reasonable prices. The desert is on the house and furthermore you can get gift vouchers for your next visit. The personnel is very friendly and the service excellent.

It's been a long time since I last went to Zakos. In the past I regarded it as one of the best fish taverns at the Makenzy beach, it has since undergone a renovation and some alterations on the menu too. Still offers fresh fish as in the past and they added a few sushi dishes plus some frozen shrimps... More

We chose Zakos as we fancied a nice fish meze with the view of the sea. Feeling hungry we chose the special fish meze at 22.50 Euros a person. What a waste of money it was!! They started with a touristy prawn cocktail..and then 2 little pieces of the bits and pieces of their "special" meze. The quality and quantity... More

We ordered meze, portion was ok, a lot of different kinds of meals. But all fish was not fresh and was overcooked, so we didn't eat it.

We went there (4 persons) on Wednesday night, not too much crowd. I bought this deal from skroutz , supposed to be for four person a variety of fish 19.90 per two persons. At the end of the night we have to pay for another 35 euro on extras. This deal is not a deal for sure. The quality of... More
