We had lunch here en route to the coast having discovered it by trawling through the web for pub lunches in the area. There were the usual multitude of establishments offering the usual range of uninspiring "pub grub" - but The Hatch shone out. In this day of pub "makeovers", The Hatch is what can be best described as a... More

Visited for traditional Sunday lunch- lovely pub with a great atmosphere - 3 of us had the roast pork dinner which was very tasty- desserts were just as nice, the rum panna cotta was lovely, the cheese board was also good. We'll definitely be returning .

Went here for the first time last night after hearing a recommendation, and so glad we went! Booked a table thankfully as it was quite busy and only about 10 tables or so for eating. Upon arrival, parking is a crazy mission as there isn't actually a car park so you have to make yourself a space along the narrow... More

Atmospheric old English country pub. Ive only visited a few times over the course of the past 20 odd years but the last couple of times we've been very pleased with the food and the vibe of this classic old English country pub. Our last visit was a family visit for Sunday lunch with a 9 month old baby in... More

It was my husbands birthday so we tried our luck after a recommendation ! So pleased we did! Luckily we booked as it was a Tuesday night but full! It was very busy so service was slow, hover this didn't matter as the lady/owner was apologetic and delightful which made all the difference! I had the prawn tempura with a homemade... More

Picture postcard setting, excellent food, and a really good selection of beers. The service was excellent, Toby and his lovely assistant certainly worked hard as they manned the bar, two outside areas, and the split dining room with impeccable service, a must visit destination.

We have just returned from a lovely roast lunch I had pork and it was beautiful. The crackling was perfect! The roast beef was pretty good too! It took quite a time to arrive so the starter of prawns in chilli sauce was most welcome! Then we had coffee outside in the sunshine. All in all a lovely meal and... More

We had a very nice lunch here with friends. Good quality menu and very nice country pub. Close to the Ashdown Park Hotel where we were staying.

The Hatch is a lovely pub with an extremely friendly and relaxed atmosphere, it has charm and character and is ideal for a quiet spot of lunch in the beer garden on a sunny day, whilst enjoying the great views of Ashdown. An all around winner if you're looking for a rustic country pub with great food and drink!
