OK, I can't really know whether it's truly authentic, but it sure *seemed* authentic. The menu is small, with just a few items on it, giving a boutique feel. I stuck to the fish dishes which were fresh and interestingly presented, for example, they had a salmon appetizer like a fancy little taco. I don't think Faroese cuisine is really... More

Thank you for your kind words about Restaurant Hafnia. We can assure you that the food served is authentic Faroese cuisine, combining fresh local fish produce and Faroese lamb, with popular international dishes. You mentioned, in particular, the deer, which is not native to the Faroe Islands, but offered as an alternative to local produce along with our extensive á... More

There are many restaurants in Scandinavia that are adopting and embracing the new Scandinavian kitchen. A process that started with NOMA in Copenhagen few years ago and and still in progress. The menu the excellent staff at Hafnia are serving is a fair selection of what is currently "in fashion" so to say, fresh fish, steak and some slow cooked... More

Thank you for your review of Restaurant Hafnia. We like to think that the nouveau trend that you described is a revamp of something that we have been providing at Hafnia for many years, highlighting probably some of the best fish produce you will ever find. Incidentally, the restaurant that you mentioned, plus many more, actually source much of their... More

We had the Thursday evening fish and seafood buffet. Extensive cold starters and hot mains. As the food is continuously replenished it is really worth keeping an eye on the food coming out of the kitchen as it is very much better to help yourself when it is absolutely fresh. The tuna was excellent and the salmon en croute was... More

Had an amazing 4 course dinner here! Professional yet friendly service and a nice ambience but the food is incredible. Apparently Michelin hasn't made it to the Faroe Islands but this is definitely the calibre of 1 star restaurants I've dined at, if not better! The guillemot was delicious, as was our main of fish and the sauces & garnishes... More

We went to this restaurant on a Tuesday night as we had heard that they had a great fish buffet and indeed it was. Do note that during the month of July they do the buffet also onThursdays. The hotel is on the old side and looks like it needs a good restoration but the buffet had plenty of fish,... More

This restaurant has an old fashioned feeling about it that is really good. The food is excellent - I had the lamb which was very well complimented by turnip and potatoes with spanish onion. As noted by other contributors, the bread is also wonderful. The staff are also very friendly and helpful.

The restaurant of Hotel Hafnia is famous of its everyday brunch offered for 138,- DKK. This contains a wide selection of food served in a buffet (you eat as much as you want). The food was very good couldn't even try everything and at Faroese price level the prices is also very reasonable. However, if you wanna have dinner, you... More

Although we didn't stay here since we were on a cruise we did enjoy a wonderful meal. Staff was very friendly and most helpful. It's location is not far from the harbor, but very walkable. They have a really large selection from which to chose from on their menu.

Had dinner here and it was fantastic. Had scallops to start which were sweet and delicious. Then there was venison and steak which were cooked to perfection served with baby Faroese potatoes, all beautifully presented. Unfortunately the waiter had brought delicious rolls (6) which tasted like crumpets and these were so good that we ate them all and therefore left... More
