Giannini a family run business since 1988 is an excellent place to have lunch or dinner when visiting Valletta. The restaurant is situated above St. Michael's bastions with vast views of Manoel Island and the pretty Marsamxetto Harbour. The third floor of a typical Malta townhouse, reached by lift from the ground floor lounge bar, has been converted into a delightful restaurant. Giannini tends to be popular with locals for business lunches and romantic dinners giving it a casual but discreet atmosphere. The cuisine is a delicious blend of Mediterranean food. Fresh fish is available daily (ask the host) and you should also consider the daily specials such as the pastas scribbled on the board. The a la carte menu changes according to season with the current options for starters including carpaccio of octopus, risottos and fresh seashells amongst others. Mains include roasted lamb, local rabbit, pan seared duck breast and daily fresh fish and fresh angus beef. The a-la-carte menu is attached next to Giannini's contact details above. A rather comprehensive wine list is also available to complement the meal.

Giannini had been recommended to us as one of Valletta’s best restaurants. We had booked dinner, and were given a table at the front; in daylight we would have had great views across to Sliema. I started with the disappointing soup of the day – mushroom – which was watery and lacked seasoning. My... read more

Giannini restaurant small restaurant on the third floor of a town house overlooking the bay, the reception and bar are on the ground floor. A small two-person lift transfers you to the restaurant. The restaurant is in a cul-de-sac so not an easy place to find. The fresh fish dishes were for two people and I am not a fish... More

I went on a wet and windy evening. I had a lovely view from my table. They fully understood my Gluten Free needs and adapted dishes where necessary. There was a good choice (1) on the menu (2) on the "specials" board (3) of fresh fish of the day. All options were carefully explained. There were complimentary eats before the... More

Booked following recommendations on Trip Advisor. It was amazing, the food was interesting but not over complicated. It was what I would describe as clean, it didn't cling to the palate and it was possible to taste all elements. The service was great. The prices good for what we had. The restaurant is roof top so the view was great... More

We had starters recommended by the manager, and then two steamed fishes, and desserts. Good variety of fresh fishes. The desserts were very good.

First time at this place, speechless .....this place is wonderful...amazing views of marsamxett harbour....this is the place for a lovely cosy romantic dinner. Friendly and exciting welcoming. I will let you guys see how it works. It made me feel special..:) Beautiful views, enough parking space, good food and good portion size, affordable prices for a holiday but not necessarily if you are a resident, and interesting presentation of the fish and dessert menu. Clever ideas, congratulations! Overall, a very pleasant experience for... More
