Description: Trabuxu is synonymous with exceptional quality; food, wine, service and ambience; incorporating the passion and promotion of art and culture into Malta's capital city. Trabuxu is jointly run by me Kris Fenech Soler and my wife Krista. Early in 2002 we realised that Valletta needed a place that captured the charm and culture that Malta's capital city offered but was only found by wandering the narrow streets and visiting the landmark buildings and architectural monuments. It was then that we opened Trabuxu. Following rave reviews and a growing loyal and eclectic clientele, the first wine bar in Malta has now become a landmark in itself. Eleven years on we have expanded the brand to include Trabuxu Bistro and Trabuxu Bedrooms (and Trabuxu Products coming soon); venues designed to accommodate local and international diners and a retreat for short-stay visitors who want to explore the city.

This is a trendy little restaurant that’s very popular on a weekend. So be warned, if you want to eat here, and aren’t flexible on time, then it’s best to book. We didn’t, but not to worry, we were relocated over to the wine bar for a drink whilst we waited for a table to become available. We waited around... More

A visit to this quaint wine bar at the top end of Strait Street is a definite must - reservations are usually recommended especially during the weekend. The food offered is simple but delicious and the choice of wine is vast. Service with a smile :-) Definitely worth it!

Had a dinner with a very international group of a dozen project team members, all enjoyed the food, the recommended wine - and the staff was very friendly. Do not plan to have a quick visit - service takes time with food being prepared when ordered - a couple of hours for a dinner is a bare minimum - but... More

The staff were great, very attentive and the food was the best we have had on the Island, the atmosphere was happy, friendly and attentive and the coffee was the best we have had since leaving Australia two months ago. Need to book though if you re late eaters. Cost for two with three glasses of wine, shared starter, two mains and... More

This review concerns the trabuxu winebar which is just down the street and around the corner from the bistro. We stopped here after a concert, after reading about it in a traveler’s magazine. Located down a few steps in what seems to be a former cellar, it has atmosphere by the ton and is one of those little places you... More

I visit this restaurant at least three or four times a month and it never disappoints. Amazing atmosphere, super friendly staff and excellent food. They also cater for coeliacs and offer gluten free pasta. Their produce is always fresh and the welcome always warm.

After an average dinner the night before at a restaurant overlooking the harbour, we were delighted with the cosy ambiance at this restaurant. We had lovely calamari in tomato, garlic and onion sauce to start, then involtini of veal and braised rabbit, both tasty and satisfying. Local wine was very good and service friendly, though we could have wished the... More

The food, while a bit on the expensive side, is definitely tasty. The service is pleasant and the staff certainly know their wine and can recommend based on your preference. The place is also lovely, great decor and design. Definitely recommended!

We were looking to sit at an outside table when the owner came out, pointed to the sky, and whisked us inside just before the skies opened. We had already been attracted to the local speciality of rabbit stew, and we were then persuaded to try a delicious starter of very thinly sliced sauté potatoes with herbs. The owner is... More

I don't think I have ever been disappointed with any of the dishes chosen at Trabuxu. Problem is, they have recently added extra charges as part of their service - you cannot simply go there for a bite or a snack or a drink / dessert or platter for that matter - they don't cater for those looking for a...
