We found this little family run restaurant just off the Main Street in Sliema, and boy were we glad. The food is delicious, so tasty and a great choice. It is all home cooked. The decor is cosy and fun. A real taste of Malta rather than a bland chain-type restaurant. Our only regret was finding it on our last... More

We booked here for a quiet meal on a Friday evening, then friends wanted to come along, so 4, 6, 9, 12 and finally 15 of us turned up. The food was superb, not pretentious - just great local food, exactly what we wanted. The choice was enough - not a huge rambling menu but great quality food with enough... More

Wandering up a side street from the Sliema harbour front, I was delighted with this little gem of a traditional restaurant. My first meal there, Widow soup followed by pan fried rabbit, was delicious. So good, in fact, that I returned a few days later to taste the rabbit stew, slow cooked for 4 hours and so tender you could... More

We discovered this small restaurant on the first night of our holiday, just off the mail tourist street. We were lucky to get a table, probably wise to book a reservation. I had the rabbit stew, which was a thick tomato based sauce full of vegetables and tender rabbit. My husband enjoyed his rabbit dish saying how moist the meat... More

Small friendly restaurant we were welcomed and had a nice table. The mixed grill was cooked as requested, ribeye, chicken and ribs and well presented with potatoes and veg. I had an excellent traditional spaghetti bologna use. The food was really tasty and the waitress had us taste the house wine before we decided. The dry white was nice. Tip... More

Let me preface this review with a little background information: to begin, I am NOT Maltese; however, my wife is. I enjoy Maltese cuisine and often describe it as Italian food if Italian food had flavor :) So I was really excited to find this establishment a little bit off of the touristy front street of Silema. To begin, the... More

We have been to Il-Merill twice this week and the first experience was excellent (food and service both very good) however tonight was disappointing. The veg was cold and the promised traditional baked potatoes on the menu were substituted for frozen chips which were a bit overcooked. The sauce on the rabbit (unlike the first experience) was watery and the... More

The restaurant is located on a side street to the Strand and has limited number is seats. The meat, especially the ribs, are recommended over the fish plate, which was quite dull. Go here if you want a more genuine experience in a smaller restaurant.

It takes a little bit of searching to find the place. Small in size and very busy. The menu had lots of local specialities. The food was nice and accompanied by a good local wine choice. The service was a bit too laid back for my liking but then again when your on holiday what's the rush
