Decent British pub

This pub is part of The Victoria hotel and is the sister hotel of The Palace which are adjoined together on Level 1, we had two meals here. First time round we had the half roast chicken and chips which was lovely and also the bangers and mash, although nice the mash was a little bit plain. We then... read more

Had the Monday night special of fish and chips? The fish was cooked from frozen and extremely greasy. The peas were terrible. (How do you get peas wrong.) I was embarrassed for them, particularly as the food in Sliema was generally of high quality.

Normally I'm not into hotel bars with a television screen but at Penny black's it suits. The reviews are right: you feel really welcome at this bar. The Staff is friendly and funny. The meals are really good, great value for your money. If you're in the neighbourhood just drop by, its worth the trip.

Great staff with a cosy feel. Excellent cocktail hour between 5-6pm and well worth visiting for pub food too.

Sister hotel to the Palace where we were staying and we popped in a couple of times during our stay and were impressed by the welcome we were given. We really enjoyed a couple of visits to the Penny Black Bar at the Victoria Hotel during our one week stay at the The Palace next door (linked via a corridor). We were lured there by the Monday night pasta meal deal and returned on Thursday for a bar meal, and both were excellent and very good value. The 60s/70s... More

good food, excellent service and made to feel very welcome even though I was not staying there. It has made me think of staying at the Victoria next time I go to Malta.
