Description: A beautiful Jacobean manor house deep in the Devon countryside, Lewtrenchard Manor offers luxury dining in a sublime setting. Dating back to the 1600s, the Manor has an interesting and varied history, a fact that can be seen in every nook and cranny throughout the hotel and dining rooms. One of the finest restaurants in the county, the Lewtrenchard Manor restaurant is overseen by Chef Patron Jason Hornbuckle who learned his trade under the watchful eyes of some of Londons most respected chefs in high quality city establishments. Here, Hornbuckle has enthusiastically created a menu that makes the most of the best Devonshire produce available while employing the methods and flavour combinations of chic modern European cuisine, earning the restaurant three AA Rosettes. Lively and relaxed, Lewtrenchard Manor is a superb place in which to indulge in the very best food and, indeed, delightful wines from the extensive cellar of old and new world labels.

We had afternoon tea at the Lewtrenchard, It was very very disappointing. The white bread could have been much much fresher and the fillings were very boring. The scones were very dull and the fancy cakes were very very sweet and sickly - we were not offered any nice home made biscuits or home made cakes, like shortbread or fruit... More

A beautiful location and fabulous food (compliments to the chef) - BUT table service staff looked miserable and lacked interaction. Attended manor as a family and after locating a table in a courtyard area, leaving bags/coats and drinks on the table and went for a dance only to find all our drinks had be cleared away on our return -... As our first visit to Lewtrenchard on 1st October we were delighted to arrive at the 16th Century Jacobean Manor House (which has been rated as a Grade II Star Listed Building) in picturesque surroundings. The grounds to the property are what you would expect of a manor house, manicured shrubs and borders with a fountain in the drive. The... More

Would not recommend this place. The owners are rude especially the son Duncan not very friendly. For the price paid for a meal you get very little. The impression given they are only in it for the money. The prices for drinks are exceptionally high and their is no atmosphere. As with some previous comments Duncan obviously has issues. Would... It must be a couple of years since we visited here for lunch, at that time it was chef's first day and we felt he was showing what he could do! Well he still can. Exceptional flvoursome food at very reasonable prices. 3 course Sunday lunch was £25. It all starts with the drive there, then arrival and the tranquil... More

Four of us lunched at Lewtrenchard Manor, two guests from Canada and my wife and I. There are few settings anywhere which can equal Lewtrenchard with its splendid 17th century granite built house and beautiful grounds and gardens. Inside it is also most impressive. We opted for the light lunch bar menu and each of us thoroughly enjoyed it though... More

Since returning to private ownership, Lewtrenchard has been transformed. The setting has always been beautiful but now it is well cared for. We chose the Surprise Tasting menu for lunch and we were delighted to have done so. Every course looked and tasted delicious. The service was unobtrusive and highly professional. We thoroughly enjoyed a long, lingering summer lunch and... More

Stopped in for lunch at this delightful manor house set in the most elegant gardens. The three course lunch was prepared and served with a real expert touch and attention to detail. The food was flovourful and delicately presented and was enhanced by an extensive and imaginative wine list. Service was first class , attentive without being intrusive. All in... More

We had an amazing evening for my father's 70th birthday. The hotel has fond memories for us as we married there 10 years ago however my parents had a very disappointing experience a couple of years ago, so we went with hope that this would not be repeated. We should not have worried. The ownership has changed back, and the... More

Last time we were here, we were crashingly disappointed, but new owners, a new chef and a very different atmosphere and service level were very evident on our visit to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday. We began with champagne and amuses bouches in the garden on a lovely evening, overlooking the Italian sunken garden, and it just got better. The... More
