Description: A beautiful Jacobean manor house deep in the Devon countryside...
A beautiful Jacobean manor house deep in the Devon countryside, Lewtrenchard Manor offers luxury dining in a sublime setting. Dating back to the 1600s, the Manor has an interesting and varied history, a fact that can be seen in every nook and cranny throughout the hotel and dining rooms. One of the finest restaurants in the county, the Lewtrenchard Manor restaurant is overseen by Chef Patron Jason Hornbuckle who learned his trade under the watchful eyes of some of Londons most respected chefs in high quality city establishments. Here, Hornbuckle has enthusiastically created a menu that makes the most of the best Devonshire produce available while employing the methods and flavour combinations of chic modern European cuisine, earning the restaurant three AA Rosettes. Lively and relaxed, Lewtrenchard Manor is a superb place in which to indulge in the very best food and, indeed, delightful wines from the extensive cellar of old and new world labels.

Excellent food as usual

Had dinner here last night. Food as reliable as always, locally sourced and delicious. Very decent wine list. All things considered it is a bit of a bargain. Well done Matt.

Such a beautiful day made even more special by an excellent lunch at the Lewtrenchard Manor. All praise to the chef and his team as well as to the young ladies who waited on the guests and of course to Mr & Mrs Murray. This is a property that seemed to lend itself to an Easter Sunday!

Sandwiches great, tea lovely, little cakes super tasty.Served well and in the most gorgeous surroundings - panelled 18th century room, huge knowle sofas, roaring open fire. No criticism at all.

The grounds and house look amazing, staff were very polite and helpful and the food, wow the food was just mouth wateringly amazing!! So many flavours, so tasty, beautifully... More

This restaurant has no Michelin star but in my humble opinion it's not far off. Ok, perhaps it lacks the 'finesse' of Gidleigh Park, but nearly every dish we had was excellent. Starters of lobster/ crab risotto and scallops could not be bettered. My partner loved the citrus roasted cod and I was happy ( although not knocked out) by... More

I've just returned from a two night stay here. The whole experience was wonderful but the food is worthy of particular mention and accolades. We had dinner here both nights of our stay as well as breakfast and afternoon tea one day. All of the food was stunning. Imaginative without being pretentious. Delicious, surprising, modern, exquisite. An immensely talented team... More

Once a year we treat ourselves to a lovely lunch, to celebrate a special day. Lewtrenchard gave us a real treat this year. Excellent food, relaxed service and very reasonably priced. All three aspects ahead of last year's at Gidleigh Park...yet no Michelin star?

A delightful Christmas lunch for a group of 20 in a private room. Fantastic unobtrusive yet helpful and friendly service, unhurried and relaxed. Great quality food and wine, well presented and delicious. We haven't been to Lewtrenchard for a couple of years, but will definitely be returning soon.

Dining at Lewtrenchard Manor is a real pleasure. The setting within the historic building creates an ambience that makes the whole experience something very special. We have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed by the quality of the food or the service. Last Friday evenings dinner was exceptional. All courses were very good, the Venison main course... More
