Description: A beautiful Jacobean manor house deep in the Devon countryside, Lewtrenchard Manor offers luxury dining in a sublime setting. Dating back to the 1600s, the Manor has an interesting and varied history, a fact that can be seen in every nook and cranny throughout the hotel and dining rooms. One of the finest restaurants in the county, the Lewtrenchard Manor restaurant is overseen by Chef Patron Jason Hornbuckle who learned his trade under the watchful eyes of some of Londons most respected chefs in high quality city establishments. Here, Hornbuckle has enthusiastically created a menu that makes the most of the best Devonshire produce available while employing the methods and flavour combinations of chic modern European cuisine, earning the restaurant three AA Rosettes. Lively and relaxed, Lewtrenchard Manor is a superb place in which to indulge in the very best food and, indeed, delightful wines from the extensive cellar of old and new world labels.

Stayed overnight here for a special birthday. The rooms are exceptional and the food even exceeds that! But it is the outstanding service that brings it all together. many thanks to everyone. We will be back.

The house is lovely, with some original furniture and pictures. But it doesn't understand its own history! It was not built in the 17th century, despite the date over the door, but put together between the 1880s and early 20th century by Sabine Baring-Gould, who collected items from all over Europe to use in the house. The gardens and grounds... More

It's an hour's drive, but through beautiful Dartmoor scenery and well worth it. And note that they do like you to ring and book at least a day in advance. It's in a very interesting old Manor House in its own grounds and with walled herb and vegetable gardens which supply the kitchen. You are free to walk round the... More

We were very disappointed in a recent Sunday lunch at Lewtrenchard Manor. There was very little choice on the menu. One meat dish ( beef ), one fish dish & one vegetarian dish. The starters was fine but the main course was terrible. Three of our party opted for the beef which was quite chewy. The meal was presented all... More

If you want excellent traditional, but friendly, service in country house surroundings, with first class food, then Lewtrenchard Manor is a must. Pre-lunch drinks were served in a Jacobean wood panelled room heated by an open log fire. The food (New Year's day) was exquisitely cooked, beautifully presented and perfectly seasoned. The home-made truffles served with the coffee were delicious.... More

My husband and I had a lovely afternoon at this delightful hotel. We were greeted warmly and sat down for pre lunch drinks. The dining area was set up professionally and the service of staff was very good. The Sunday lunch was excellent and we finished with coffee and chocolates. I would recommend this hotel/restaurant if you want something special... More

Wonderful dining experience beautifully presented and served. A once off experience for us because of the cost but worth it. About 7 courses of exquisite food with lovely flavours. Wonderful setting but just a little bit formal.

Right from the starting canapes, through to the petit fours, every dish was superb - not too much or too little, not too rich, all extremely well balanced. The set menu had four choices for each of the main three courses, which some people may gripe at but trust me there is a wide enough range of flavours on offer...and... More

I had the pleasure of being treated to a Father's Day lunch at this restaurant. The setting is lovely; a smaller version of Gidleigh on the other side of Dartmoor. The manor is authentic with a castle feeling about it. This would be a fantastic setting for a wedding. We enjoyed drinks in a large room whilst making our lunch... More
